Chapter 2: Between conflicts and preparations

When Jay and Tom finally arrived at the cabin, they were greeted by the excited voices of their friends.

Leandro ran up to Jay and hugged him warmly. 

"Jay, I missed you so much!" he exclaimed.

Daniel came up to Tom next and hugged him as well."It's good to see you, dude! We're going to throw a party tonight that you'll never forget," Tom said with a big grin.Andre, Florian and Thorsten were standing nearby, smiling broadly."Hey guys, how are you?", Jay greeted them."We're doing great, and you two?" replied Florian, looking over at Tom.Tom gave a forced smile and nodded. "I'm fine," he said curtly.

Jay looked at him with concern. "Yeah we're fine, the ride just took a little out of us," Jay said.Tom hesitated for a moment before answering. "Yeah right, there was a lot of traffic on the way here.

But I'm ready for a nice weekend with you all!" he lied.Jay nodded, but he could see Tom slipping back into his bad-tempered mood.He decided to talk to him about it again later."Let's go inside and start planning the party!" suggested Leandro, leading them all into the cabin.

The group sat down at the large dining table and began brainstorming ideas for Daniel's birthday party.They decided to have a theme party and dress up as their favorite musicians.Jay was excited about the idea and suggested that he and Leandro could go as Freddie Mercury and David Bowie.

Tom, however, wasn't so keen on the idea and didn't really seem interested in the party.During the planning, mostly everyone present agreed.Only Thorsten kept coming up with ideas and suggestions for improving the evening, but these were not in the interest of the others.

This causes Daniel to leave the dining table, as he feels that his wishes and needs are not being taken into account.Tom follows Daniel to the kitchen, where he angrily drinks a glass of whiskey, drumming his fingers."I just can't believe Leandro brought that idiot, and I don't know if I can stand spending time with him," he tells Tom, adding, "I just can't stand Thorsten.He was talking bad about me behind my back then and now I have to spend the weekend with him."

Tom nodded in understanding, though he still wasn't sure what to do."Did you talk to Leandro about why he took him? Or did you ever try to settle the hatchet with Thorsten?" he asked.Daniel shook his head."No, I don't want it to look like a big drama and I certainly don't want to talk to him," he said."But I can't just pretend everything's fine either."Tom put a hand on Daniel's shoulder.

"I understand you're angry, but we can make the best of the situation.After all, there are all your friends here and we can all have a good time, even if Thorsten is there, who you don't like.And who knows, maybe you two can have a quiet talk, sort out your differences, and become friends again."Daniel sighed.

"I don't know if that will work, but I'm going to try.I don't want my anger to ruin the weekend.Thanks Tom, you're a good friend."Tom smiled.

"You're welcome brother, that's what friends are for!We'll have a great time, I promise."Tom and Daniel sat back down at the dining room table with their friends.Lots of good ideas for costumes had been coming around in Tom and Daniel's absence, but no one had anything suitable.Suddenly Florian spoke up: "Why don't we just dress up as zombies? We're planning to do a zombie movie marathon anyway."

All of their friends were thrilled with the idea."That's a great idea, Florian!" exclaimed Leandro."And we could get really creepy with makeup and some material from the city.""Exactly!" agreed Jay."We could go to one of the stores in town and look for some matching makeup and maybe some accessories.

Maybe there are some snacks and drinks we need for the birthday party, too."The friends agreed and decided to go to the city that same evening and get the necessary things."Wait a minute, I don't think it would be necessary to go to town with several cars though." said Tom and continued "I think it's enough if I go with my car and a few of you come along to help me with the shopping."

"But then who will stay here?" asked Daniel."Florian, Leandro and Thorsten can take the suitcases to our rooms and start preparing the cabin for the party," Tom suggested."Good idea," Jay agreed.

"So the rest of us will go with you then," Andre said, slapping Tom on his shoulder.Tom, Andre, Daniel and Jay made their way to town in Tom's Supra.They were looking forward to a successful shopping trip and finally getting everything together for the party.

But what they didn't anticipate was that on their way back from town, they would encounter a mysterious encounter that would change everything.
