That next afternoon Gwyn was fuming as she marched away from the library. Her day had started off wonderful of course so, naturally, something would just have to come along and ruin it. She had woken up from the strange dream of the Forrest and quickly finished the last chapter of the magical theory book, having forgotten about it last night. It had ended with a few meditative exercises one could do to strengthen their ability to tap into their magical core that she planned to begin using every night before bed.

After that she had penned her letter to Grishnar to ask about getting more house elves and sent it away with Maeve, sitting down to a lovely breakfast. She had received her daily subscription of the Prophet and skimmed through the news, making note of any article that seemed to hold importance. Her pensieve had been delivered at the same time as the response letters from the Malfoys. They were to meet the following day at Malfoy manor, and if she was feeling up to it Narcissa had offered to take her shopping in Diagon.

She had taken the letters and the shrunken down pensieve with her to the library, having had the wonderful idea to start off researching the soul bond. And what a wonderful idea it had been indeed. She had found what she was looking for of course, how could she not with the entire knowledge of the Peverell library in front of her? It was that very answer that had her storming her way to the sitting room that contained the portraits of her grandparents to demand answers.

She threw the door open and marched directly in front of them, slamming the book she had been reading down in front of them, the offending page left open so they could see.

"Did you know?" She demanded in a deceptively calm tone.

"Know what dear? I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific." Her mother's mother began.

"Did you know," Gwyn repeated, turning to face them with glowing amethyst eyes. "About the soul bond?" When all four of their faces fell she knew that they had. "I see, am I the last to find out then?" Her tone was as cold as ice.

"Darling, we cannot begin to know what is going through your mind right now but you must understand that you were not yet two when you left us. If it is his age that has upset you-" she spoke over her father's mother, cutting her off.

"You think I care about his age?" She was beyond seething now. "The book clearly states that the partners in a soul bond will be whatever the other needs them to be." She spat out.

"Then what is it that troubles you?" Her mother's father asked. His tone held no accusations, only curiosity. "Is it his past?"

"I do not know anything of his past nor do I care." Her magic crackled around her but it was her father's father who finally asked the question she had been waiting for.

"Then tell us Gwyn, what have you learned that has you so upset?"

She picked up the book and began to recite the words on the page. "There are many forms of bonds known to our kind. Some are formed by rituals; such as marriage, godparent, and familiar bonds that are performed and then either accepted or denied by Mother Magic. Other bonds such as the sibling bond are wishes of the heart acknowledged and accepted by Mother Magic in order to show her children that she knows and understands them. However, the bond that is most rarely seen and very little known about is the preordained soul bond, where two souls are connected by Fate even before both of them are born." Her magic began to swirl around her as she started to pace the floor, continuing to read aloud. "When two souls are connected through a soul bond they will be drawn to each other. They will become whatever their partner in the bond needs them most to be. If the two in the bond are separated from each other before the bond is fully formed there can be devastating effects including pain and a sense of longing. To be rejected by one's soul mate can heighten these effects. There are no known survivors of a rejected soul bond."
