As the weeks passed, Andrew and Clark's friendship continued to grow stronger. They were happy being together and could not imagine being with anyone else. However, as they settled into their friendship, they also had to deal with the challenges of their daily lives, including academic responsibilities.
One day, their contemporary world class was tasked with debating the topic of globalization. It was a hot-button issue that had been making headlines in the news, and everyone had strong opinions about it.
Andrew and Clark found themselves on opposite sides of the debate. Andrew believed that globalization had been a force for good, allowing countries to come together and share ideas and resources. Clark, on the other hand, argued that globalization had been responsible for many of the world's problems, including income inequality and the destruction of local economies.
The two of them went back and forth, each making strong points in defense of their position. Andrew couldn't help but feel impressed by Clark's eloquence and intelligence, even as he disagreed with him.
As the debate continued, Andrew found himself becoming increasingly passionate about his argument. He stood up and addressed the class, his voice ringing out across the room. "I understand that there are problems with globalization," he said. "But we can't just turn back the clock and pretend that it never happened. We need to find ways to make it work for everyone, so that we can all benefit from it."
Clark shot back with a counterargument, but Andrew wasn't fazed. He had done his research and was prepared to defend his position. He argued with passion and conviction, drawing on his personal experiences and his knowledge of history and economics.
The two of them continued to spar, each trying to outdo the other with their arguments. It was clear to everyone in the class that they were evenly matched, and that this debate would go down in history as one of the fiercest in one of their subjects, the contemporary world.
Finally, the bell rang, signaling the end of the class. Andrew and Clark were still debating as they packed up their bags and headed out of the room.
"I can't believe you held your own against me like that," Clark said, grinning. "I thought I had you beat."
Andrew laughed. "Never underestimate me, Clark. I may not be as eloquent as you, but I know how to make a good argument."
Clark nodded. "You're right. I guess I shouldn't have underestimated you."
They walked out of the classroom, still debating the merits of globalization. As they headed home, they couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. They may have been on opposite sides of the debate, but they both knew that they had given it their all. And that was all that mattered.
