Clark and Andrew walked nervously into their professor's office, unsure of what to expect. They had just been called in to talk about the recent tragedy involving their friend Jana.
"Good afternoon, Clark and Andrew," Dr. Kim greeted them with a somber expression. "I wanted to check in with you both and see how you're holding up after what happened."
Andrew spoke up first. "It's been really tough, ma'am. We still can't believe what happened to Jana."
Clark nodded in agreement. "It's been a real shock for all of us."
Dr. Kim listened attentively before continuing. "I'm glad to see that you're both taking the time to process your emotions. But I also want to take this opportunity to talk about mental health awareness."
Andrew and Clark looked at each other, unsure of where the conversation was headed.
"You see, Jana's story is unfortunately not uncommon," Mr. Kim explained. "Many people struggle with mental health issues, and it's important that we start having open and honest conversations about it."
Andrew nodded in agreement. "I think that's a really important message, ma'am."
Dr. Kim smiled. "I'm glad to hear that, Andrew. In fact, we've decided to launch an awareness campaign within our department to help promote mental health education."
Clark perked up at the news. "That's a great idea, sir! What can we do to help?"
Dr. Kim chuckled. "I knew you'd be interested. We're going to require all students in our department to attend an orientation on mental health awareness. But we also welcome students from other departments to attend as well."
Andrew smiled. "That's really inclusive, sir."
Dr. Kim nodded. "We want to make sure that everyone has access to this information. And who knows, it might even help someone who is struggling."
Clark and Andrew left Dr. Kim's office feeling hopeful about the future. They knew that the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but they were determined to make a difference.
As they walked through the hallways of their school, they overheard a group of students talking about the upcoming mental health orientation.
"Hey, are you guys going to the mental health thing in the health and sciences department?" one of them asked.
Clark and Andrew smiled at each other, realizing that their message was spreading. They knew that Jana would have been proud of them for using her story to help others.
"It's about time we started talking about this stuff," Andrew said, as they walked towards their next class.
Clark nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's time to break the stigma and start the conversation."
The two friends walked side by side, ready to face whatever the future held. They knew that they couldn't change the past, but they could make a difference in the present. And that was all that mattered.
