    you let out a string of curses on realising you had come to school without your pencil case, and also had no pens in your blazer pockets

    you must have left your pencil case on your desk after using it to finish off homework the night before, and instead of making the trek to put it back into your bag you instantly collapsed onto your bed from fatigue

    you frantically darted your eyes around the classroom, looking for a student that was approachable, and would be kind enough to lend you a pen for the day. you opted to approach albedo, but was immediately turned down as you noticed him pulling his own pencil case closer to his chest

    "okay, fuck you too i guess!" you murmured, your forehead morphing into a frown. you plopped yourself back on your chair with a huff, impatiently tapping one of your feet on the ground, until a ginger-haired boy who sat on the row infront of you entered your sight

    "hey! childe!" you leaned over your desk to attract his attention better, your face instantly lighting up when he turned his head around with a smile

    "ah- [name]!" he moved his legs, which were previously up on the table, to the floor in a haste, almost falling backwards from rocking on his chair

    "may I borrow a pen for the day? I forgot my pencil case at home today, haha.."

    "ohー yes, ofcourse!" he hurriedly gathered the stationary sprawled out on his desk and stuffed it into his pencil case, leaning back to place it on your own table "infact, girlie, you may take the whole thing!"

    "ahー there's no need for that, childe, really, its okay, I only need a single pen to get me through the dayー" you pushed the pencil case back into his hands, feeling guilty that he would give up all of his equipment for you. "plus, I'm sure you need it yourself, I dont want you getting into trouble because of me"

    he clicked his tongue in response, grabbing your hands and wrapping them around the pencil case. his pencil case wasnt fat, but it was quite lon-

   "no, no, I wouldn't say things to you if I didn't mean them. you do realise you are talking to one of the richest students in this school, right? I have plenty of backup."

    you smiled at his generosity, opting to trace your finger over the outlines of multiple whales, making your smile widen even further at your cute discovery

   "so, you seem to like whales a lot, huh?"

   "well, actually, they're narwhales (🤓☝️) but IーI meanー it's not like I like them, though, I'm not heavily obsessed with whalesー it actually belongs  to my little brother"

    "uh-huh.. That explains the narwhall themed bag aswell, right? Aswell as the jewellery with little whales on it, your trainers-"
   
    "OKAY OKAY FINE I ADMIT IT I LIKE NARWHALES" He raises his hands in defeat, a small and cute pout adorning his face seeing you laugh at his small obsession

    "It's cute, I like it. I never thought anyone would be able to pull off things like these besides kindergarten students"

    "hey! that hurt my feelings!" He smacked a hand where his heart was dramatically

    "that was supposed to be a compliment! I told you its cute!"

    unbeknownst to you, childe's face began to heat up as a light blush spread over his cheeks, causing him to hurriedly turn back around to his seat "Y-Yeah, well, um, I'll catch you later, yeah?"

    "oh! yeah, later"

    you and childe didn't really share many classes besides science, math, and form, so you most likely wouldn't actually be catching him later. Ontop of that, you had a strong tendency to forget things, so would most likely not remember until after school.

    as expected, you didnt realise until 2am that you still had the ginger's belongings, and you mentally cursed to yourself, burying your head into your pillow

    you rummaged through your bag the next day at school, looking for your own pencil case, until realising you had yet again forgotten it

    'stupid brain. Just cuz u have childe's pencil case doesn't mean u forget ur own (smh) '

     you groaned, your body slumping and your head coming to thud against your desk
 
     "heyyy girlie. why so sad for?"

     "forgot my pencil case"

     childe chuckled, shaking his head "Doesn't matter. You have mine" he ruffled your hair, a small smile on his face

      "ah, yeah but.. I can't keep it forever"

"it's no problem. seriously."
