A phone to his ear, Kuroo looked out the window, seeing the bright stars in the dark sky,
"You know you really didn't have to set up a blind date for me,"

Kuroo could hear his friend groan over the phone,
"I really did. You kept complaining about being single, and it got really annoying,"

"Ouch,"

"You know I meant that in a nice way. Now get off your phone, your date's almost there,"

"How do you-"

Kenma hung up on him. Kuroo, from the table in the fancy restaurant he was sitting in, watched as you walked inside the building.

'I wonder what he's doing here...'

He watched as you checked your phone before looking around the room. You then made eye contact with him, quickly looking back at your phone before going to his table.

"(F/n)? What brings you here?"

He watched in shock as you sat across from him,
"I'm your date, Kuroo,"

In that moment he wanted to throw his childhood best friend off of a cliff. But he didn't have time for that right now, right now he had to focus on charming you.

Changing into a flirtier persona, he grinned at you,
"I wouldn't have it any other way,"

You smiled back at him before opening your menu. There was a lot of food you didn't recognize, and all of it was expensive as hell. Luckily Kenma, who set up the blind date, had given Kuroo his credit card.

"You can order whatever you want (f/n), its all on me," he said proudly.

"Is it on you, or is it on Kenma?"

The shocked expression on his face made you snicker as he tried to defend himself, losing his composure.

"I- Kenma isn't- he-"

You laughed quietly,
"I'm just joking, Kuroo. If Kenma's paying, I don't really mind, especially since it means we can order whatever we want,"

He just nodded quietly, a tad embarrassed.

The rest of the date went pretty well, both of you having a comfortable conversation, although Kuroo flirted a lot more than usual, throwing in the occasional pickup line.

"This restaurant's beautiful isn't it? Although it's not as beautiful as you,"

Not being in the dating scene must've made him really rusty, as you ended up just laughing at all of his attempts to be charming.

"That's so corny!" You continued to laugh, making him more and more embarrassed. Even the other restaurant goers felt bad for him.

Then you decided to try one. You inched your hand onto his, and gazed deeply into his eyes.

"Kuroo, are you made of fluorine, iodine and neon? Because you are F-I-Ne (those are what those elements are shown as on the periodic table) (I KNOW THIS WOULDN'T WORK IN JAPANESE SHUT UP)"

For some reason, he burst into pink, flustered from your flirtation. He could feel his heart pounding, did you really just say that to him? Honestly you weren't expecting it to work, you just said a corny pickup line so he wouldn't feel to bad about his, but you were okay with this reaction too.

After that, the two of you ate in not-so comfortable silence, making the previous team captain feel nervous about his chances with you. What if you didn't like his pickup lines? What if you just didn't like him in general? He did forget about you after all. Wait, what if you were still hung up on that?!

Worry filled his mind as the two of you left the restaurant.

Feeling a little bit defeated, Kuroo spoke,
"Well (f/n), I had a good time. This was nice,"

"It was, and it can be even nicer if you know what I mean," you replied with a wink.

It took him a few moments until he realized what you meant, and he immediately got in your car with you, excited for what would come next.

• KENMA'S HOUSE (spiciness implied)

"So did you go all the way?"

Kuroo smiled smugly with a slight blush,
"Yeah... and I was totally the one on t-"

"Don't lie to me, I saw you limping on your way here,"

"You're horrible!"

Severe whiplash to those who thought y/n would be on bottom that's mb I should've made it more clear from the beginning
