Forgotten (Adult Haikyuu x M!reader)

I'm making a third chapter while I figure what to do with the other one

"Would [weekday] work for you all?"

The volleyball players huddled up before giving you an answer,
"Yeah, what time?"

"[time during the school day] would work great,"

"That works for us too!"

You stood up to shake hands with them, giving each one of them your best smile, except the one in the mask, who only got the smile.

"I would have liked a handshake..."

"You say something Sakusa?"
He glared at you and shook his head.

You decided to head back to the car,
"I'll be in the car, you should catch up with your friend!"

Suga sat down next to Hinata,
"Hinata, do you remember (f/n)?"

Hinata tried to search his memory of you, something about you and your name did make him feel weird, but he couldn't figure out why.
"I don't think so, why?"

Suga looked at the door that you exited through,
"Oh it's nothing..."

"I remember him!"

The two Karasumo alumni looked over to the Owl,
"He saved my life back in Highschool! I was choking on some meat and then he did the heimlich on me, it was totally awesome!"

(I giggled writing that innuendo in there)

"How come you didn't say anything about it though?"

"I didn't figure it out until I saw his [long/short/buff/medium/skinny] arms while he was leaving!"

Now they all tried to figure out who you were, even Sakusa. They came to the conclusion that you most likely did know them in the past, but couldn't really remember anything specific.

After some time, Suga hopped in the car.

"How was it?"

He smiled while he put his seatbelt on,
"It was nice, talking with an old friend is always fun,"

You sighed and started the car,
"Yeah..."

The awkwardness started to fill up the car, and just as it was about to boil over, Suga felt the car stop.

"Here's your house! Thanks for coming a long with me, I'll see you next week!"

He thanked you and got out of the car, walking into the house regretting not saying anything meaningful.

As soon as you saw him walk in, you were off. The awkward feeling of being forgotten was too much for you to handle, so you decided to visit a friend.

"I CANT BELIEVE THEY FORGOT ABOUT ME!"

Your friend took a sip from her tea,
"Yeah it's weird, they were all over you during Highschool too,"

"I SHOULDVE KNOWN! AFTER GRADUATION THEY SAID THEYD KEEP IN CONTACT AND GUESS WHAT?"

She knew the answer, but decided to indulge you,
"What?"

"THEY GHOSTED ME! AFTER EVERYTHING WE HAD BEEN THROUGH!"

She got you a tub of ice cream [that may be dairy free depending on who you are 👁] which you instantly started to consume.

"So what are you gonna do about it?"

With your mouth full of ice cream, you gave her your answer,
"NOTHING! I'm just gonna hope I can be friends with all of them again..."

"Work that (f/n) charm,"

You put your spoon down, and pushed the ice cream away from you,
"Yeah! One by one I'll get them back, like Pokémon!"

She chuckled and you turned towards her,
"Enough about me, hows life for you? I still can't believe you're still dating them from Highschool!"

"Yeah, it's crazy thinking about it all... I'm thinking of proposing soon, but yknow how things are here, so the wedding would probably be in a different country,"

"I get that,"

You two continued to talk for a while before it got late, and you decided to go home for some sleep.

The day of the volleyball player's arrival was quickly approaching, and you had to make sure everything was perfect. They were pretty much celebrities! You had to make sure they wouldn't get swarmed by reporters or fans, and you generally wanted them to feel comfortable.

Suga pat your back as you were hunched over your desk,
"I'm sure there's nothing to stress about (f/n), I'm sure it's gonna be great!"

You laughed tiredly,
"Yeah... I'm sure your right..."

You stood up,

"Where are you going (f/n)?"

You walked out of the room,
"I have some appointments with some students, I'll see you later, kay?"

He nodded in response and you headed to your special private office, which you used when helping students get past their issues.

You didn't like to spend most of your time in there, there weren't any windows, and it would be very hard to make friends with the other faculty if you were always cooped up in there.

You still napped in there every now and then though.

Some of the things the children told you were very concerning, so you made a mental note to notify the right departments.

You met up with Suga in the office, and the two of you decided get to know each other more.

"So what Highschool did you go to (f/n)?"

Your mind went into a frenzy. Did you tell him you went to the same school? If that jogged his memory, then it'd either be good, or very awkward. I mean he ghosted you, and there had to be a reason, right? You decided to give him a half truth.

"I went to Highschool here in Miyagi, but I can't exactly remember the name of the school,"

"Oof, bummer. Are you seeing someone?"

You weren't prepared for the suddenness of the question, but you answered with the truth. You sighed,
"No... I haven't had a serious boyfriend since middle school! Isn't that sad?"

He shook his head,
"No it's not! That just means you haven't met the right one yet!"

You chuckled,
"Yeah, I hope you're right. How about you?"

Now it was his turned to not be prepared, his face had already turned pink.
"I-I uhmmm... I had a boyfriend during college... but things didn't turn out that well..."

You could tell that maybe that was a touchy subject, so you tried to comfort him, soothingly patting his back.

"I totally understand dude... I know you'll find someone right for you soon though, I just know it!"

He smiled at you, and something about the way he saw you changed, and he could feel his heart skip a beat as you smiled back at him.

He waved off the feeling, deciding that it was probably just nothing.

You walked him home, then walked yourself back to your abode, taking great pleasure in sleeping in your bed alone.
