Freya wasn't sure what woke her up. She stared up at the darkness and listened to the three other bodies breathing. Maybe the wild thoughts running through her head had woken her? What was she going to do?
She couldn't leave this planet without Zoe, but she wanted to leave so badly. She had to be truthful to herself, it scared her. Back on earth she had always been able to protect herself.
But here she was the weakest creature. Freya sat bolt upright in her cot. A strong scent wafted up under the door. Freya slowly got out the bed.
The scent was sweet and smelt like the roses one of the shop keepers used to grow every spring back on earth. Freya looked back at the sleeping form of Mary, before hurrying toward the door.
Freya had learned all the Algrass scents, and yet this one smelled different. It remained Freya of Zoes warm sun like scent. Freya gripped the doorknob and turned it slowly, before shutting it behind her.
She walked to the ledge and looked down into the carven. A single fire was lit below, and Freya saw a figure illuminated in its bright light. Freya started down the steps, taking them two at a time till she came to the bottom.
She approached the figure from behind. But they still seemed to hear her. "I was wondering when you'd visit me." Freya walked around the figure and gazed at their figure in the light.
The young man smiled up at her drawing his cloak off his head. His bright blue eyes, and white hair were so stunning in the firelight. Freya knew the scent was coming from him. "I haven't seen you around here before,"
Freya sat down on the floor in front of him. He smiled and nodded. "I like to stay in the shadows." he chuckled and stirred the flames. "I've heard a lot about you though."
Freya frowned. "Really, well then I would like to hear more about you." the young man gave another sparkling smile. "Sure, what do you want to know?" Freya wondered at his scent; such a lovely scent couldn't have hidden from her for so long.
"Your---your scent it's different than the others." he shrugged and gave another big smile. "What can I say, I mean your scent is wonderful as well." Freya face turned red, and she looked away. Weird. She thought.
Freya watched as the man stoked the fire. "What's your name?" Freya asked. He didn't look like the other Algras, he could have passed for a girl back on earth for how lovely he was. He looked up at her.
"Truly, I have many names." Freya frowned. "So do I." The man looked intrigued "Really? May I hear them?" Freya stared at the man. "If you tell me yours first."
The man threw his stick into the fire and sparks flew up into the air. "Some are very silly." Freya shrugged not taking her eyes off the man. "I'd like to hear them." The man rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Somniun, όνειρο, and a few more I doubt you could say, and you?" Freya ran her finger down her scar. "I've been called a few lately, Freya, Fey, but just recently, witch." the man slowly turned his head to look at her.
"Really." Freya stared at the man. "I'm not scared." he grinned. "I know, that's what makes it fun." Freya watched his every movement carefully. "Your voice is very different than any I have ever heard."
He chuckled. "So that's how you knew, I shouldn't have gotten cocky, but you must admit my powers are stunning." Freya knew that his voice was the one she had heard that day, whispering in her ear. "What's stopping me from calling for help?" Freya asked.
The man smiled and ran his hand through the flame, he pulled it back and smiled at Freya. "Why haven't you?" Freya stiffened. The man laughed and stood to his feet. "Don't worry, she is still alive, and I'll make sure she stays that way."
