It was decided that Alice and Jasper would take Dani up to Arizona away from the tracker, Victoria. Rosalie stayed behind due to Victoria knowing Rosalie would've been with Dani. It would've been too obvious. Rosalie has been trying to keep her mind off of Dani being far away, yet she wants to stay hopeful that her mate will be safe.
Esme and Rosalie are watching out for Austin. Victoria's first place in mind would be Dani's house. Edward, Emmett, and Carlisle are tracking where Victoria is heading, the Cullens and Hales plan to break Victoria apart and burn her remains so she doesn't reconstruct herself.
It has been 2 days since Dani left for Arizona. Her, Alice, and Jasper are headed to a hotel to get some rest, specifically for the human. It's the 3rd patrol of the day when Rosalie's phone starts to buzz in her pocket. She immediately picks up the call without looking at the caller's name.
"Hello?"
"We lost her."
Rosalie freezes at those words. Edward's voice through the phone sounds emotionless and not caring. Lost her? Lost Victoria or Dani? Either way, everything could go south.
"Alice had a vision. Victoria changed her course. We lost her in the water, so we can't even smell her scent."
Rosalie chokes back a growl and crushes her phone with her hand. Anger pulses throughout her body. Victoria could be heading for Dani as the blonde awaits to see her mate again. Trackers don't give up that easily.
"Esme! We need to go, now!"
The mother figure and the blonde race to the Cullen abode. They doge every branch in their path, jumping over any tree root. Once they make it to the house, Rosalie speeds to her room and starts packing a duffel bag with clothes and essentials.
"Rose, dear. What's going on?" Esme questions.
Rosalie immediately turns around, glaring at Esme with jet black eyes. They're full of anger and worry. If Rosalie had a thumping heart, it would be racing 100 miles per hour.
"They lost Victoria in the water. Alice had a vision of her changing course. Dani could be in trouble as we speak. We need to hurry to Arizona," Rosalie says frantically.

Dani's eyes flutter open. She takes a big yawn while her eyes adjust. Dani sits up from the hotel bed. Alice and Jasper are in another room. The brunette has barely gotten any sleep since the football game. She misses Rosalie a lot. Dani feels empty and partly unsafe without the blonde by her side. She feels lifeless.
Dani goes by the window and slightly opens the curtains to peel outside. The sky is dark with the moon in the middle. It's late at night. How long was dani asleep for? There's a few light knocks on the door before it's gently opened.
"Alice and I are going to check us out of the hotel. Victoria was lost, so we're going back home. Rosalie is on her way."
Dani turns and meets eyes with Jasper. He stands there with no emotions showing, but he looks like he's in pain. Dani smiles slightly.
"Okay, Jasper. Also, don't be afraid around me. I know you have control and wouldn't hurt me. I trust you," Dani speaks in a soft tone.
Jasper gives Dani a small smile before walking out of the room, closing the door behind him. Dani sighs and walks over to her bag. She might've snuck some of Rosalie's clothes with her to have comfort. Dani puts on Rosalie's gym shorts and a tee shirt. Sure, they're a little big on Dani, but who cares? Dani finishes putting on her socks and shoes when her phone rings. She hears her default ring tone, meaning that she doesn't know the caller.
"Hello?"
"Oh, Danielle. How I've missed you."
Dani's throat goes dry. She notices that luring voice anywhere. The voice of a predator. Her predator. Her tracker.
"What is it that you want, Victoria?"
"I'm having a little fun at this vacation house. You know, the one that was given to you after your mother's death?"
Dani doesn't respond. She always avoided bringing up her mother. It was a tragic death, one she had to witness. Dani blames herself for her mother's, Elode, death.
"Meet me here if you want no harm to your precious friends. Come alone."
The line ends with a few beeps. Dani turns off her phone and shoves it in her bag. She decided to leave it behind so no one calls her for Dani's whereabouts. Dani only brings her wallet for money for a taxi. The vacation house is not that far away from the hotel.
Is going really worth it?
Of course.
Everyone is on the line.
What about my safety?
Do I even care about myself?
Everyone is more important.

Dani thanks and pays the taxi driver. After he leaves, the brunette takes a sight of the cabin. It's not the biggest one ever. It's holds 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It's 2 stories tall. The bedroom up stairs leads to the balcony that faces the sea. Dani takes a big breath before walking to the front door. She slowly opens the creaking door. All of the lights are off. Dani expects Victoria to jump out, but she's not in sight anywhere.
Dani closes the door behind her, looking around the, in her mind, ancient cabin. There are pictures of Dani's family all over the walls. Ones where Austin was actually happy and not abusive. All of the windows are closed by curtains. There's slight light coming through them. As Dani makes her way to the living room, some force from behind shoves her forward, pushing her to the ground hard. Dani's head thumps against the dark, wooden floor. She groans while slowly lifting herself back up. Two cold, pale hands lift Dani up from the ground by the collar of her shirt. Dani tries to thrash around to get out of the hold. Piercing red eyes stare at Dani's struggle.
"It's pathetic that you think you can escape me," Victoria speaks with venom.
The redhead gets tired of Dani's thrashing, so she twists Dani's wrist, making a few cracks. Dani screams in pain. Curses leave her lips, loud enough for neighbors to hear if there were any. Glass breaks from somewhere around the room. Dani is thrown out of the way, hitting a mirror on the wall. She lands on top of glass shards. She grunts and screams in pain. Dani's throat starts to burn. Her head is pounding, barely noticing words being spoken out loud.
"Hold her down!"
"Pull it!"
"Light it up!"
Dani stares at the ceiling, unable to move her head because of the glass that surrounds her. She shakes from fear, tears falling onto the floor. The cuts are burning Dani everywhere on her arms, legs, and back. Dani is lifted into someone's arms. Long, blonde hair flows from the night's breeze. The flower scented perfume can only be from one vampire.
"No, no, no. This was to protect all of you. Why did you come? She'll get you all," Dani says barely above a whisper.
"Shh, baby. Everything is okay. Victoria is gone. She was burned to ashes. Close your eyes for me. I'll always be here."
Dani's eyes slowly roll back, meeting pitch black. Dani passes out from exhaustion. However, she doesn't want to leave the darkness.
