Meeting Miri

For the rest of the night, Rei remained awake on the couch with a controller in his hands and eyes glued to the TV screen. Kazuki had finally managed to put Miri to sleep and not long after collapsed on his own bed, exhausted from the day's events as well as trying to tame a wild four year old. This left the tired, dark haired male to his own devices at 1am, contently playing his beloved games that Miri almost destroyed the other day.

Rei had been playing online matches. This was his 18th race of the night and his chosen character for the Morio Kart game was in first place, naturally. The past 11 races had his name at the top of the leader board but this one went a little differently. Nearing the finish line of the last lap, his kart was hit by a devastating item that forced his player behind, giving the player behind him (who also hit him) the chance to zoom past and cross in first place. In the end, Rei finished 3rd, his worst score of the night. He glared at the winners podium and tossed the controller to the side.

"Tch, whoever you are, I can end your life in a heartbeat", he mumbled under his breath to the avatar on the 1st place box. Their name read: A55a55in, and Rei would remember their name in case he ever crossed paths with them again online, and he would happily crush them. "Assassin?... Really?"
He found it amusing considering that whoever was on the other side of that screen, was actually playing against one right now.

"Turns out Kazuki actually gave me your number too yesterday. No hard feelings about the mission right?"

Another message suddenly popped up.

"Oh, this is Y/N btw"

"Weirdo", he mumbled. He thought about responding but he barely even messaged Kazuki back whenever he texted him, so replying to her wasn't going to happen. He had no reason to trust her, so he didn't. As for any hard feelings, fighting hand to hand with someone was a common thing in his job, but she didn't deserve any thanks for the large cut up his arm now with multiple stitches and wrapped in bandaging. It was a pain to deal with once he got home and would soon become one with the many other scars that marked his body.

When she walked into that bar, he immediately thought she was familiar. Flashes of the hooded girl amongst the trees crossed his mind but what were the odds of ever seeing her again?. The H/C hair that framed her face and pale pink lips were revealed for the world to see instead of hiding behind a mask or hood, and she overall looked like a completely normal citizen. He wasn't certain it was her until he focused on the deep, clear E/C of her eyes that could stop anyone in their tracks. That's what really gave her away. She didn't do a great job of hiding the awkward situation either when she saw him and Kazuki.

Once Kyu revealed the news of them all working together, Rei felt even more tired than he already did. Having someone else involved in their little circle, plus having to work with them sounded tiresome and difficult. Rei liked things to go simply. What if she interferes with their way of doing things? What if she turned on them, or isn't really who she say's she is? He knew he could easily overpower her, but remembering back to that mission, she definitely held her own against him. Though, if that fight went on for any longer, he would've been the clear winner. Maybe.

I wonder if she could beat Kazuki in a fight...

Rei was about to put his phone away and head to his bed in the bathtub but his fingers found themselves typing her name into the search engine online. He realized that it was futile trying to find someone on the internet just by their first name, so he resorted to a more 'advanced' way of finding out. Maybe even excessive, but any information about her is useful information. Underneath the coffee table was Kazuki's laptop, the one he uses for work and research. Rei wasn't as of an expert at Kazuki when it came to tech but he knew the basics. That's why they made pretty decent team, they had what the other didn't. Rei knew enough to be able to find her through searching for all the Y/N's in the area using what mas most definitely illegal software. After finding her, he traced her back to a run down apartment complex and found a database of personal information.
