Daryl

I FOUND MYSELF dozing off after a few hours of sitting with Mer. I had woken up to the sound of a door closing, picking up my head and seeing a short woman with blonde hair approaching me. A smile held over her face as she stuck her hand out to shake hands with me. Awkwardly, I grab her hand and shook it.

"I'm Deanna. You must me Daryl, am I correct?" She asks me.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"That's a firm handshake you got there, Daryl." She smiles. "And this must be Meredith, yes?"

"Yeah." I furrow my brows.

"Please excuse me." She lightly chuckles. "I've just got threw with interviewing the others of your group. Aaron informed me you and Meredith were hanging out in the infirmary. Meredith, here, has been asleep for about half a day now?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

"Looks like you've all been through a lot." She nods.

"Yeah." I answer. She tilts her head to the side, holding that smile on her face.

"Is there any other words you know besides 'yeah'?" She asks.

"Yeah. I mean..." Deanna laughs and pats my shoulder.

"It's okay, Daryl." She nods. "New place, new people. It's a lot for people these days. You're not even sure if you can trust us." I simply nodded. "Well, I've given you all two homes. Rick and the others are settling in. I'll be checking on them here in a short bit. You should go with your friends, rest, relax, get everything you need to settle down to call Alexandria your home." I shot my eyes to Mer.

"Mm...I don't know." I answer, shaking my head.

"Listen, Aaron has offered to keep watch on her." She says. "Eric is here for the broken ankle, so he'll be staying the night in the infirmary. Aaron wanted to keep watch for you. He's at his house taking a quick shower and he'll be back. We've got her. Don't you worry." Deanna smiles at me before exiting out of the infirmary. I let out a long sigh, turning my attention back to Mer. I hoped she'd wake up within the next five seconds or five minutes so I could tell her what's going on, where I'll be and who to talk to if she needed anything. But the five seconds turned to five minutes, which turned to ten minutes.

The door opens up again and I turn my head to see Aaron entering. He shows me a small smile and approaches me.

"Deanna told you I'd offer to watch her while you got some rest?" He says.

"She did." I nodded.

"If you don't want to, it's understandable." He nods.

"Nah, uh...thanks, Aaron." I nodded. He shows me a smile and nods.

"I'm just gonna be one bed down. I'll be able to see her." He says. "Should she wake up, is there anything you want me to tell her?" He asks.

"If she wakes up, you tell her we're all here. Tell her where we are. And if she tries walking out that door, try to stop her. If she don't listen, just...walk with her at least. Walk her to the house and let her inside. Knock, one of us will answer it." Aaron nods.

"Alright. You got it." He says. I patted his shoulder before exiting out of the infirmary. I walk through the roads, looking at all the houses I passed by. I knew where we were staying, as Rick and Carol stood on the front porch.

"How she doin?" Rick asks.

"She's got meds, IV." I nodded. "Aaron's watchin her, making sure she's alright, he'll tell her where we are if she wakes up." I paused in my tracks, staring at his fresh shaved face.
