Meredith
It had been a few days. I was off on my own, fending myself, doing whatever I could to keep surviving. But I soon found myself arguing in my head that I had every right to be with my people. I know that I can go back to the prison and talk to Rick. Get him to change his mind. He's gotta. Daryl would want to work things out as well. I can handle Tyreese. Maybe sitting down with him and talking it out, he'll understand. Of course, putting myself in his shoes, I'd be hurt, angry and all. But I would soon realize what was done was right. If it were Daryl, and he were sick, maybe I'd be okay with it. Maybe he would too. Maybe he'd thank me for it.
I stopped the car at the end of the road, seeing nothing but smoke and flames and walkers covering the prison that once used to be my home. I was surprised, shocked, confused. I wanted to know what had happened. I know this was today, as the flames are still burning, and how things turned out to be. But my thoughts were still wondering- who was left alive.
"Tell me we're not going through that." I roll my eyes and turn to the 16 year old boy sitting in the passenger seat, Harley. I found him yesterday. He was running from walkers and I easily found him. He told me how his parents and baby sister died three days into this world. All this time, for almost over a year, he was all alone. All alone, surviving on his own, doing everything he could to stay alive. At first, I wanted to leave him alone. Thinking he'd be better off without me. But I just couldn't let it go. I tracked him for about a day when I finally found him hiding in a garage of a house. He was quiet at first never said much. Now, he never learns how to shut the hell up. He's annoying, a huge pain in my ass.
I quickly climbed out of the car, stepping over to the front of it. I could see tall, build body with two smaller bodies running behind. I watch them dart off into the woods. I knew I needed to see who they were. I quickly walk to the drivers side and opened the door.
"Get out. Come on. We have to go." I demand.
"What?" Harley questions. "What do you mean? Those skin freaks are crawling the prison. They've made it their home now." He argues.
"And I have to see if my friends are alive." I argue. His eye widen and he lets out a snort.
"Y-You're joking, right? Am I the only one seeing the reality of this place? It's lost!" He frowns.
"I know my friends are alive. I just saw three of them running off in the woods." I say. "I know how to track. We go through the woods, swing around to where I saw them and we'll track them down. We have to go." I say.
"We're gonna die before we make it halfway through the woods. This place is crawling with walkers." I huff out a breath and slammed the door. I open the back seat and pull my backpack, bow and quiver.
"Fine." I shrug on my backpack. "You can stay in this car, get surrounded by the walkers and die of starvation, or you can come with me and have a better chance of surviving. Take your pick." I say. I shut the door and turn for the woods. A walker approaches me and I swing my knife out, killing it.
"Fine." I hear Harley. "But only because I wanna help." He says.
"Alright, come on." I call. I walk over to the trunk, grabbing his backpack. We stuffed in all the medical supplies and any food we were able to fit into our bags. Harley takes a moment to kill two walkers. I finally took note of everything we needed and declared everything else had no choice but to stay behind.
"Let's go." We dart off into the woods, keeping ourselves close to the outline to keep sight of the prison. We ran and took out walkers as we did so.
"Yours!" I call to Harley. We approach two walkers. He easily takes out one with his knife. I ran up to a walker, swinging out my bow and whacking it in the head. The head easily flies off and the body drops to the ground.
