3. Head Bands

I woke up the next morning to the smell of delicious crispy bacon. I quickly got dressed and ran into the dining table. My dad was sitting there reading the newspaper. He looked up, grinned, and went back to reading the paper. My mom was at the stove, making breakfast. I sat down at the table and my mom brought over three plates of food.

"Thanks Mom." She sat down across from me and we all ate are food.
"Today I'm going to earn my leaf headband." My father nodded and my mom gave my a thumbs up.

"You'll surely pass!" I smiled as she winked at me. Then I looked at the clock in the kitchen.

"Oh my gosh I'm going to be late for school!" I put my dish in the sink and ran out the house. I braided my hair on the way. I got there and quickly sat down just as the bell rang.

Iruka walked in and looked around the room. Naruto was here today, which was good. Iruka explained how the exams would go.

"I'll call each of your names one by one. When you hear your name, you'll walk to the room across the hall and perform the clone jutsu. Are there any questions?" No one said anything.

I turned around and began to talk, but I stopped talking when I saw that both Seiko and Nari were asleep. I grinned an evil grin, then walked over to Iruka's desk and took his pen. Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura were watching me.

I walked over to the two and was about to draw on their faces when Iruka called my name. "Kiamie Yorashiga!" I sighed and put the pen back on the desk.

I walked into the room and did the jutsu flawlessly. They gave me my headband and sent me outside where I saw my parents. I wrapped my Headband around my waist, using it as a belt since it was big enough for it. "What are you doing here?"
My dad chuckled. "We came to congratulate you!" My mom and dad hugged me.

Suddenly Seiko walked out very glumly. Then Nari walked out and then sat facing a tree. I ran over to them. "What happened guys?"

"I failed..." They said in unison.

"I was so tired from training all night that I didn't have the strength to make a successful clone.."

"Same.." I giggled and watched as their parents comforted them.

Then I saw Sasuke walking home by himself. "Bye Mom, Dad, I'll see you when I get home!" I waved to them and ran to Sasuke. I stopped beside him.

"Where are you going?" He glanced at me and rolled his eyes.

"Where do you think?" I looked at the ground, feeling stupid.

"Sasuke, why don't you talk to me anymore? We used to be close, and now it's like we rarely talk." He stayed quiet for a minute. "Things happened.."
I looked down. "I know." We walked in silence. "Congratulations." He looked at me, then looked away.

There was now an awkward silence between us, and I wanted to evaporate or something.

"Hey, that Sakura girl is quite obsessed with you, and so is that Ino girl too. They look annoying as heck." He nodded.

He then stopped walking. "What?"

He pointed to the docks next to us. There was a duck. "Sasuke, I'm going to catch that duck." He face palmed and watched as I chased the duck. Suddenly my foot slipped and I fell into the water.

I came to the surface to see Sasuke standing at the edge of the dock, his arm outstretched towards me.

I took his hand, and pulled him into the water. He looked at me annoyed, then splashed me with water. I splashed him back, and eventually it became splash wars.

The awkwardness was gone and replaced with my laughter.

We stopped and I climbed onto the dock. Sasuke climbed onto the deck as well, and we stood there soaking wet. I laughed at us, and Sasuke smiled. He walked me to my house, and I waved as he walked away. I went into my room and changed into pjs then went down the hall to the living room.

"Night Mom, night Dad."
My mom was sitting on the couch, painting her toenails. My dad was sitting on the floor, holding the nail polish container for her.
"Goodnight sweat heart!"
"Goodnight love."

I walked down the hall and into my room, shutting the door behind me.
I laid on my bed and thought about the future. Pretty soon we would be put on squads, and start to go on missions.
It would be awesome. I smiled and closed my eyes, entering sleep mode.
