Chapter 18

Lee Haneul

" we need to leave, right now. " I look up as Jungwon spoke up. " right now? But it's raining. "
Jinyoung complained. " I know, but now is the great time, it's almost dark and the rain will make the zombies vision unclear, if we could be fast enough, we can exit the campus, go to the back and to the gym court. " Jungwon explained

" but isn't it risky? " Sunoo said. " it's more risky, risking our lives in here, we have no food, no water and we'll barely survive if we stay here. " Heeseung spoke up.

" They're right, we should go now. " Ji-yun said.

Yang Jungwon

We're tiptoeing down the stairs, trying not to make a sound that can cause those things to attack us. Heeseung led the group, me being behind him.

We got to out the school building and we got down and hid behind some walls.
" There's too many of them, any plans? " Ji-yun said, " I have a plan, I go and distract the zombies, after it's been cleaned out-" " shut up, no one's distracting anyone, are you implying you're sacrificing yourself? " Haneul immediately cut me out, I sighed and thought for a moment.

" We can go through here, lay low. " Haneul said and led the group, I sighed and just followed them.

After we got to the side of the school, we found a truck that crashed into the school. The others went over and some went under the truck.
When we thought things was fine,

" Yah! Shit! There's one here! " Jake shouted, Jay immediately went to Jake and helped him with the zombie.

After I got over the truck, I stopped. I wanted to snap back to reality but I couldn't. It was her.
It was mom.

" Y-Yah, stop. " I tried to shout but it came out as a small whisper. But my hand slowly changed into a fist as I watch with my own eyes, my own friends hitting my mom and trying to kill her.

" Yeah! That's what you get shithead! " Jay shouted, and I just snapped.

" You're the shithead! Stop it! You fuckers! " I yelled at them, they stopped and I ran towards them.

" Yah, Jungwon-ah, what's wrong!? " Before Jake could say another word, I jumped at him and punched him in the face.

" Jungwon! What the fuck?! " Ni-ki yelled.

" Jung- oh motherfucker! " Jay yelled, I took a glance at him and he was beating my mother on the ground, hitting her with a wooden stick dozen times.

" Yah! I said stop it! Bitch! " I yelled, filled with anger and tears, all of us were wet because of the rain pouring heavily. I ran towards Jay, but before I could get to him, Someone pulled me back.

" Jungwon, calm down! What the fuck's wrong with you?! " Sunoo said while holding my arms back, and Ni-ki being beside him.

Jay still continued hitting my mother and I couldn't take it and just broke down.

" Stop it! Please! Jay-hyung! Eomma! " Everyone stopped at my words. I just cried holding Sunoo's arms. " Stop, please. " I mumbled lowly.

" Jungwon-ah, I... Sorry, I didn't know, shit." Jay dropped the wooden stick. Shaken and stared at his own hands.

" Yah! Jay! " Ji-yun suddenly yelled and pushed Jay out of the way, as my now deceased mother tried to attack Jay.

We stopped and stared in shock, no one moved, we were all guilty. Guilt came to us more, as we realized we just stared at Ji-yun. We only stared at her out of fear as she gets attacked and bitten by my mother.

We snapped back to reality and we saw more zombies jumping to Ji-yun and biting her.

Ji-yun screamed in pain, her agonizing screams were heard all around the place, and we just stood there, frozen.

" we gotta go. We got to go! " Sunoo yelled behind me.

The group started to move slowly, but I stayed put. I stared at the pile of zombies, still not accepting the fact that my mother was dead.

" Jungwon, please, let go, we need to go, now. " I snapped back to reality, as I heard Haneul's voice, she was desperate. I looked around and it was only Me, Haneul, Seo-yeon, Jiwon, Sunoo and Ni-ki left as the others were already running.

I stood up and started to run away back to the group.

Third person

As the group ran away, Jungwon couldn't forget the thought of his mother face, she looked unrecognizable and it broke Jungwon.

Meanwhile, The group was in a chaos. They were running and zombies was chasing them. Seo-yeon and Jiwon being the last two people in the group, They were shaken, one wrong move and the zombies can get to them and they'll be dead.

" Seo-yeon-ah! shit! help me! " Jiwon yelled for Seo-yeon, She was held back by a zombie, both of them were on the ground, the zombie being on top Jiwon trying to bite her.

Instead of helping, Seo-yeon just stared at her, Jiwon couldn't believe her eyes as she looks at Seo-yeon just running away and not helping her.

" Motherfucks! What happened to fucking helping each other!? Shit! " Jiwon yelled at the top of her lungs as she was still trying to prevent the zombie from killing her.

Jiwon stared in shock as a wooden stick went through the zombies head, expecting it to be Seo-yeon but soon disappointed finding out it was Haneul. She looked for Seo-yeon but Haneul's words caught her.

" Seo-yeon's dead. " Haneul said, which made Jiwon silent.

Both of the girls caught up to the group, and the group was going inside the school gym. The group was all inside the school gym, they stopped for to catch their breaths.
They were calming down, but not Haneul.

She sensed something.
" Run. " She mumbled. " Hm? Haneul? What's wrong? " Jiwon asked. The thunder roars and lightning shined around the room, revealing the condition of the room.

They stared in shock when it was revealed that zombies flood the places. The group ran, running to the storage room, but the zombies was fast and attacked the group.

" Jiwon, come on! " Haneul grabbed Jiwon's arm, she tried to drag her, but she stopped when Jiwon didn't move. She looked at Jiwon, and saw her crying. " Jiwon! Jiwon! Let's go! "

" I-I can't, I can't fight. They're my friends. " Jiwon stared at the volleyball players, she couldn't handle it, she can't fight, she won't fight.
" I know it's hard, but we need to fight Jiwon, fight or die. " Haneul talked to her.

" Haneul! " Jake called to Haneul, she turned around and saw a zombie heading to bite her. She let go of Jiwon and killed the zombie.
" There is no time, Jiwon. " some zombies tried to attack Jiwon, but Haneul prevented them to bite her.

" Haneul! Let's go! " Heeseung yelled.
" Go! Take Jiwon! " She yelled back. Haneul fought the zombies heading to them.
She looked back and saw Heeseung, Jake, and Jay dragging Jiwon and letting her run to the storage room.

Haneul killed one zombie, and when she found the time to run, she ran back to the group.
She was behind the group, Jiwon being in the front. Just as they were close to the storage room....

" NO!!! "
