He hated the dark; he would've killed for power from the city, a light, a TV, an amenity; instead, here he was... doing his paperwork in the dark, by candlelight. A knock on the door was heard, and no more than three seconds later, before Kallum could properly let the visitor in, Menvin burst through. Tripping over his words, as he pulled the door open, the tribe leader's full form was brought to moonlight; aside from being slightly taller and having white and purple accents as opposed to white and red ones, the tribe leader shared a striking resemblance with Russell. That was to be expected; they were brothers, after all. They even had the same color eyes and matching skirts, which was definitely the official tribal wear. "Doctor, we talked about this... what's the point of knocking if you're just going to tear the door down."
Menvin stood there, somewhat embarrassed. He looked at the door, reflecting on his mistake. "Oops... Sorry, Kallum, but it was important. I was speaking with the new arrival. Do you know the injured one? He said it was a ship, not a drone, that crashed. And it's full of dangerous criminals! He said that they kept him prisoner, tortured him, stuff like that!" The leader raised his hand up to silence the medic, "Now, you've only met him once? And you're sure that the ship is full of hostile people? What's to say he isn't lying?" The bunny inquired, his paranoid nature already beginning to peak.
"I didn't really think about that-- sorry I bothered with this." Menvin had scratched the back of his head, "You should be sorry." Kallum hissed, "You know the rules; you must go through my brother if you have an official grievance. Not me. I have enough on my plate as it is." Menvin listened, his face stricken with guilt as Kallum berated him. Kallum sighed deeply as he studied Menvin's face. "What is the status of the man anyway?" Kallum inquired firmly. "I have performed open heart surgery for the first time, I might add. He took shrapnel to the chest. I was able to remove all of it, but he will have a painful recovery. He's quite lucky to be alive. But we won't know more about him until we investigate the ship and the survivors. Like I said before, he says he was a prisoner. Being interrogated for information." The bunny listened with lowered eyes and a hand on his chin as he listened to Menvin, and then he spoke. "I see. Perhaps I should speak with him." Menvin chuckled nervously; Kallum's eye twitched in irritation; he could sense that Menvin had an issue with that. "Something wrong with that?" Kallum inquired, unamused by the Doctor's hesitation. "I think you tend to be a bit... harsh with newcomers, Kallum."
"That's because I don't trust newcomers, and since we're on an island, I don't really expect to see many of them, Doctor. In fact! I think you've changed my mind. I think I will send a team to investigate these 'criminals.' It could prove interesting. Tell Blade to gather his best hunters." His frown twisted into a crazed grin as his gaze shifted to the window to eye the stars. "I'll speak with him." He declared; he stood up and started for the door, his hand on the knob, before briefly looking at Menvin from over his shoulder. "Whether you like it or not," Kallum said harshly. "I trust you'll ensure he's prepared; I hope he doesn't need any more operations. I hate wasting resources on things I can't keep." Kallum worded as he stepped closer to his fellow Omeocoon and tribe member. "N-no, there shouldn't be. For now, at least. He just needs rest." He stated as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his lab coat.
Menvin raised his voice to inform Kallum of important information, "He's a solid. He claims to be called Jason. I know it seems like a fabrication, but maybe we shouldn't dismiss the warnings. It could have something to do with our inability to communicate with the other islands and the Capital City." He added, which did spark thought from the gel-bunny, but that thought ceased immediately. "Very interesting observation, Doctor. I suppose I'll have to ask about that when I speak with him. That will be all. You can return to your previous duties." Then, he departed into the night toward the makeshift hospital.
