In line with the hype about The Rich Man's Daughter, let me just say that I am one of the many people who are happy and ecstatic about this show. It's the first TV series in the Philippines that tackles the relationship between two women. I was browsing through my TV one Sunday morning when I saw Chynna Ortaleza in a red suit. My initial reaction was "Is she gay? Bakit ganyan yung suot nya? Para na din ba siyang si Charice?". Being the curious person that I am na hindi makakatulog kapag hindi nalaman ang sagot, I immediately searched the net for answers. Later, I found out that she is going to portray a lesbian character on TV. This is actually what I have been waiting for a long time now. A show that will discuss the concept of sexuality in a woman's point of view. I am not just after the romance between the two lead characters; I am also excited about the fact that finally, people will have a view about the struggles that other women experience in accepting who they are and being accepted by the people around them.
I just watched the last two week's episodes (thanks to the power of the internet) and I must say that the team done a great job so far (though I can't help to compare some scenes with the movie Imagine Me and You). The chemistry between Glaiza de Castro and Rhian Ramos is just WOW! (Who would have thought huh?!) And Chynna's willingness to change her looks for the sake of her character is something very admirable. I also like the characters of Mike Tan and Katrina Halili.
The last episode I watched was Paul telling Jade that maybe she is bicurious or bisexual. I hope that they will explore that part further. I know from experience that is harder to explain to your folks that you are attracted to both gender than saying you are attracted to the same sex.
I am excited to watch more episodes of The Rich Man's Daughter. More power to the cast and crew!
