Twenty-two year old Lem was on her way to her favorite bar. It was not an ordinary bar, mind you, it was a poetry bar. She discovered it two years ago when she was still mending her broken heart. She just broke up with Jules, her boyfriend for five months. Jules was a very jealous boyfriend. Pinagseselosan nito ang bawat taong lumapit sa kanya at kausapin siya, be it a guy or a girl .Yes, she is Bi and a proud one at that. After Jules, she did date but they were never serious.
After their break-up, she tried to focus on other things, luckily when she found Libretto, she became so interested with poetry and other literary works that it became her distraction. She later found out that she has a talent in writing. Her friends don't even know that she writes. However, its not only writing that she is fascinated with.
She has always been fascinated with the thought of reincarnation. Not only that but with topics about fate and destiny. It started when she went on a field trip in Intramuros. They were exploring the site and she came upon a closed building. Hindi niya alam pero parang may humihila sa kanya papasok sa building na iyon. Sarado ang main gate pero parang may sariling isip ang kanyang mga paa at pumunta siya sa likuran. Doon ay may isang maliit na pinto. Sa pagpasok niya ay dumeretso siya sa isang sulok ng gusali. Pagkatapos ay kinapa ang pader. Doon ay nakuha niya ang isang kwintas. Totoong ginto ito sapagkat kahit sa paglipas ng panahon ay mukha pa rin itong bago. Walang kalawang. Nang kanya itong isuot ay nagkaroon siya ng pangitain.
She was in the same building more than a hundred and fifty years ago. It was dark and there was a man in her arms. They made a promised to never forget each other. Then the scenario changed. Again there was man before her but it was not the same man and he was speaking a different language. Then the scenario changed again and this time she was in the arms of another man. All different time period and different faces of men but feelings were all the same and the same promise was spoken. When she opened her eyes, she was in the same building but there was no man. From them on, she became obsess with finding out what was that vision. She drew the clothes that was worn by those men and she found out from her grandma that they were from different time periods. One was worn during the Spanish era, the other was a uniform of a Japanese soldier and the last one was only worn during the 80's.
Sinarili lamang niya ang kanyang natuklasan pero nag-iba na ang kanyang pananaw tungkol sa pag-ibig. With her visions, she became a firm believer of fate. That love has no boundaries and even time can't stop two souls from meeting each other. One way or another, they will meet. Of course, it might not be true as well. Baka nasobrahan lang siya kakabasa ng pocketbooks. But every time she has doubts about it, she always get a vision. It appears on her dreams or even in broad daylight. But the point is she is always reminded that somehow the things that she believes in are true.
Pumasok na si Lem sa bar at tulad ng dati, doon siya naupo sa sulok na bahagi ng bar. Umoorder lamang siya ng inumin at pagtapos ay tumunganga sa mga taong labas-masok sa establisyemento. Nakahalumbaba siya habang nag-iisip ng bagong concept ng kanyang isinusulat na kwento.
"Hi guys! What a lovel evening right? Welcome nga pala sa Libretto! I see familiar faces as well as new ones. Sana mag-enjoy kayo sa gabing ito. Tonight is Wednesay Night. It means that its Poetry Slams once again! Can I hear a round of applause?!" wika ng host. Nagpalakpakan naman ang mga tao.
"Alright! So para sa mga bago, poetry slam is an event kung saan we have three candidates na mag pe-present ng kanilang mga isinulat na katha. Ito ay open sa lahat. After they present their literary works, we will present the winner via the votes that they will get from the audience. So let's start the night with a literary work coming from Benjoe from Quezon City."
