Narrator's POV

Camila was too shocked, too upset, and too disappointed to speak. Tears started to build up in both of her brown eyes. She looked at Lauren full of disappointment. She was disappointed with Lauren and herself. Why was everything happened just for heading this way? She slowly shook her head. Lauren surely read Camila's reaction, even though it was so subtle, even Camila tried to suppress it. Lauren reached out for Camila's hand, but Camila avoided her.

"Camila, I'm just joking!" Lauren smiled, but she stopped when Camila did not buy it.

"It's a Joke?" Camila's tone was flat and small.

"Yes," Lauren said, but anticipated what was coming by the look on Camila's face.

Camila cynically chuckled, "It's my fault, isn't it? I did not take our relationship seriously. In return, you make fun of us, make fun of what we have or... had?"

"Camila...I am serious. I... I mean it was just a joke. I just wanted to tease you." Lauren tried to explain.

Camila shook her head, "I don't know... It doesn't look like a joke to me."

Lauren could have just defended herself by recalling what Camila had done to her. Her joke was nothing compared to it. However, she was a bigger person. She also realized it was not the right timing. Camila was mentally fragile. She put aside her ego and the past, "Camila... I'm sorry!" Lauren gently said. "I should not have done that."

"Please be honest, Lauren!" Camila sounded like begging Lauren helplessly, "You like her, don't you?" Camila slowly asked. She was not afraid of asking for honesty since she was always honest with Lauren despite whatever she did.

"Camila..." Lauren sighed. She would not deny that she found Dakota attractive, but could not say that at this moment, could she? Dakota was attractive, but Lauren did not like Dakota the way Camila thought.

"I saw it," Camila said.

"What?" Lauren asked gently. She was such a patient, loving person. Others, who were not, might have given up on Camila when they were in such a condition, physically injured and mentally exhausted.

"I saw you two last night by the poolside." Camila did not have to walk closer to them. She saw their chemistry was in the air. Camila might speak softly, but insecurity, jealousy, and sadness were in her voice.

"She is just... a fan," Lauren added.

Camila looked away, trying to hold her tears, "you're once my fan, too."

"..." Lauren was thinking about what to say since she could not get out of bed without struggling to pull Camila into her arms. Lauren's back was injured massively. She could not sleep lying on her back comfortably. She broke her right arm and leg, which would take months to recover. Wounds and bruises were all over her body, including a cut on her forehead. "We were just talking," Lauren said.

"You did not even talk to me last night." Camila was still recalling what she saw last night. Camila might have yelled at Lauren if she did not do Lauren wrong and Lauren was not injured.

"We did..." Lauren promptly answered.

"Not in the same way..." They did talk, but not in the way Dakota talked to Lauren and made Lauren laugh.
