Hey, turn it up, Retro

"What are you doing tomorrow?" Tommy asks.

Mm, yeah

"I have a date, she's taking me to a basketball game." I say.

"I thought Tate liked Hockey." Tommy says.

"It's not Tate, she said we were done for good." I say.

You said it's a little late for apologies
Would never want me back

"This is Dylan's sister." I say.

"You're going out with Sarah? You?" Tommy asks.

"Yes." I say.

My phone rings and Tate's name appears on the screen.

And now you're calling me

"You not gonna answer that?" He asks smiling.

"No." I say.

It's a little late

"2 weeks ago you said you would get back with her in a heartbeat." He says.

But who am I to say
'Cause I would take you back

"Are you gonna try again with the girl you claimed was the love of your life or move on with a replacement?" He says.

So what's it gonna be?

"I need some fresh air." I say leaving.

I shut the door behind me and sit on the front steps.

I knock on the door and Tate opens it.

"I'm sorry. I know that I've been fucking everything up. I love you and I'm willing to get help to be with you." I say.

Yeah, came back with that bouquet and apology note (Yeah)

"I've heard that before. Um, maybe you should go." Tate says.

Told me that it's too late I should probably go (Yeah)

Tate closes the door and I sigh. I walk away and press the elevator button.

I can't even remember how many times I've pressed this button the morning after I spent the night.

Drove home on that same road
Same one that you'd take home
The morning after you'd stay over

The elevator doors open and I step inside. I press the button and the doors close.

Tears fill my eyes and I wipe them.

Hard to see it go (Yeah)

She's really done with me.

What you mean "it's over" why you walking out?
