Chapter 9: I Go To This School Remember?

Chapter 9:

I slipped on my bag over my shoulder and got out of my car. I shut the door and pressed the button on the keys to lock it. I walked towards the front gates of school and waved to a few people on the way. Suddenly I felt 2 hands on my waist pulling me behind. I turned around and found myself face-to-face with Tyler.

"Oh hey Tyler. What are you doing here?" I asked him with a shaky laugh.

"Um Selena, I go to this school remember?" He said unsure of the mental state of my mind.

"Yes, I remember. I have to go to class and meet Miss Holly. So I'll talk to you later. Bye." I ran off into the building. My heart was beating fast. That was a close escape. If anyone knew about me dating Tyler my social life is ruined. I will be at the bottom of the food chain of this school and all my so-called friends right now will probably eat me up for dinner. I shuddered at that thought and convinced myself to think that running away from him and not telling anyone about my relationship status was fine.

I entered the chemistry lab and sat down on one of the stools. Miss Holly had not reached the chemistry lab yet so I pulled out my earphones and phone and started listening to Talking Body by Tove Lo. I shook my head with the flow of the music.

Now if we're talking body

From the corner of my eyes I could see Tyler sit down beside me. I closed my eyes and acted as I was asleep to refrain from talking to him. Miss Holly soon entered class and demanded for silence. We studied chemistry for an hour and then the bell rang.

I tried to escape but I heard Tyler call me. I stopped and slowly turned around with a fake smile plastered across my face.

"Hey Tyler." I cursed myself for not rushing a bit faster as I walked towards him.

I was seated at my lunch table with my friends when I heard Tyler call me again. It was hard enough to dodge him after chemistry. Did he really have to put me through this during lunch too?

"Selena, why is that geek calling you?" Tasha asked me. I looked around uncertainly trying to find a passable excuse.

I got up from my seat and walked towards Tyler, ignoring Tasha's comment. I knew if I won't go up to Tyler and talk to him right now, he would surely figure it out.

"Hi Tyler."

"Hi Selena. Come sit with me."

"I'd rather not."

"Why?"

"Because then the whole group of my friends would bug you if they knew."

"So they don't know?" His voice sounded hurt and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

"It's not like that Tyler."

"Then what is it like?"

"It just didn't come up." I tried to reason with him.

"Well, it didn't take you long to tell everyone when you started dating Drew."

"Tyler, I-"

"Whatever. Feed that kind of junk to your popular people. I did not expect this Selena. I thought you were different but sadly I'm mistaken." With that said he walked away leaving a tensed atmosphere behind.

I realised that I'm going to have to make it up to him if I wanted to save my relationship with him. I needed to do something sweet and nice for him. But for now I have to go back to the people I have grown up with in this school and deal with their issues because they are just so important. Note the sarcasm.

I put back on that same fake smile that i put on every single day and walked back to my table.

"What was that geek even talking about?"

"Yes, why did he call you?"

"Why did you even go?"

All these questions were being thrown at me and I knew just the way to answer them as well as get Tyler back.
