Chapter 16:
I walked the empty streets towards Tyler's house. I remember when I used to come here merely two weeks ago. Even though, I used to date Drew as well, we never came to his house. It was always my house, school or some cafe. It was nothing personal. When I reached familiar roads, memories of Tyler and my food fight at his house flooded my mind as I walked further, bringing tears to my eyes. I brushed them off and sighed heavily. I pulled my jacket closer to me in hopes of getting warmer. It had started to get really cold these days and some people were even suggesting to stay inside our homes. But I couldn't, I still had to go to school. Plus, there's prom tomorrow. At this I let out another sigh. I hope I could do talk it out with Tyler. We were soon going to graduate and I didn't want to leave things on a bad note.
The familiar red house came into view. His house was huge, just like mine. He even had a fountain in front of his house with green bushes surrounding it. I walked to the front gate and mentally gave myself a pep talk. Okay, you can do this Selena. No big deal. Oh who was I kidding, this was a big deal. This had to be perfect or else we wouldn't end up making up.
I pressed the doorbell, reluctantly. I could hear footsteps rushing down to open the door. My heart picked up pace. What if Tyler opens the door and then what if he bangs it on my face? Wait I did nothing wrong! He is the one who did. But then again, he did it for me. Oh god. Kill me now.
Well, I didn't have time to contemplate further as the door was opened. I saw a petite looking woman with pale blue eyes standing in front of me. She was dressed up in black pants and a red shirt. I assumed she was his mother. She did have Drew's eyes, which looked exactly like Tyler's considering they were brothers. I had never seen any of his parents before as whenever I came they would always be out either on a business trip or on a 'romantic' evening.
"Yes?" She asked, snapping me from my thoughts.
"Uh, is Tyler home?" I asked hesitantly.
"Yes darling, he is. You are?"
"Oh I am a friend of his." I replied unsurely as I didn't know what to classify Tyler and me.
"Oh wonderful honey. Come on in." She smiled politely and I returned it.
"He's upstairs, would you mind going up to his room?"
"Yeah sure." I said.
"Though, I have to warn you. He has been very depressed the past few days. He said it was nothing but I did hear him crib about some girl called Selena or something. Do you happen to know anything about it?" She asked sincerely. I looked at her uneasily.
"Guilty." I said ashamed.
"Oh. So you're the girl."
"Mrs. Greene I had no intention of-"
"Selena, it's okay. I think you should go do what you came here for. And I believe that I will see him happier afterwards." She smiled slightly as if she were hinting something and I returned the smile, grateful that she didn't hate me.
I nodded and started walking up the stairs. I held on to the railing as I walked and then spotted a stain on the floor. I chuckled. That was Tyler and my 'who can drink coffee faster' competition.
Once I reached to the top, I located his door and went in front of it. It was shut and I didn't know if I should knock or barge in. I went with the latter and just barged in because what if he didn't let me in. Again, Sel you didn't do anything wrong. My inner voice screamed at me. Okay this is it. I can do this. I tried to calm myself down.
I twisted the door knob and peeked inside. I saw pieces of clothing were strewn on the floor, trash was carelessly dumped around and in the middle of all this mess, Tyler was sitting, playing COD of course.
