I pulled into the school's parking lot and parked in my usual spot.

I got out and waited for Zara to show up, I took out a cigarette and started to smoke as I did.

I felt a stare on me which wasn't unusual but this one felt different.

I looked up and spotted Hayden.

I haven't seen her since that night on the roof.

I felt a jolt of something but I wasn't quite sure what it was but I knew it had something to do with the fact that she was still here.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Zara's car drive in and park beside mine. Zara came to stand beside me as I watched Hayden's eyes travel to Zara.

"Hey," she said and I nodded my greeting.

"You alright being here?" I asked.

She shrugged. "It doesn't matter." She said vaguely and I knew why.

"Come on, we can't miss. This starts everything."

For some reason my brother never liked missing the first day of anything.

I've known Zara all my life.

Zara's bloodline and mine have been intertwined long before we were even thought of.

Zara's family has always been my family's second in command.

And because of that I knew this was fucking with her head.

Zara and Ren had been close. And not just because we grew up together but they also dated for about two years before he died.

And his death date was coming up soon.

Glancing at her I knew she was reverting back to that same person she was when it happened.

For the first few months she was mostly out of it as if she was only a shell of a person. Then suddenly she went back to her usual self anyone would've thought she moved on.

But I knew better. I knew it was still weighing on her. She just wanted things to go back to normal.

It wouldn't and she knew that but she still tried anyway.

Now I on the other hand have been basically numb to everyone and everything surrounding me.

I didn't care for much now, not even my own life.

I nodded to her and offered her my cigarette which she took.

The other joined us soon after and greeted us but I wasn't paying attention as my eyes went back to Hayden but she wasn't facing me anymore she was looking at the school.

She watched it for a while before she started to move in its direction.

Suddenly Ryder was throwing an arm around my shoulders. "So who are we staring so hard at?"

I glared at him out of the corner of my eye causing him to immediately retreat his arm and hold his hands up.

I rolled my eyes, glancing back at the entrance just as the door closed behind her.

"Who was that?" Damon asked.

Looking at him I found all of them staring at me which annoyed me.

Damon raised an eyebrow at me and I rolled my eyes.

Ignoring them I pushed off my car and started making my way into the school.

They followed after me and slowly deterred off until it was just Damon and I.

I could feel his stare on me but didn't turn to face him. And he didn't say anything as we entered the classroom, taking a seat in the back.

"Good morning class. I know it's your last year, are you excited?" Started a chirpy voice from the front of the room.

I blocked her out looking out the window beside me.

I didn't even want to be here. The only reason I was, was because of him.

Half an hour later I heard the door open slowly.

"Hi, I'm Ms. Hart and you are?"

"Umm Hayden."

I turned my head at the sound of her voice joining the stares she was getting.

She kept her eyes on the ground as she awkwardly stood in the front of the classroom.

"And why are you late?"

"I'm new." She responded in a small voice.

"Well, you can take a seat wherever you'd like."

Hayden nodded before looking up, eyes roaming the classroom to find an open seat.

Then they landed on me and without really thinking I raised and signaled for her to come to me.

Her eyebrows raised slightly in surprise but still she made her way to me.

"Move down," I told Damon in Japanese, without looking his way.

He moved down a seat but his gaze didn't move from me.

I nodded at the now vacant seat. She widened her eyes. "I'm not going to take his seat." She turned to him, "sorry you can take your seat back."

He shook his head. "It's cool, sit."

"Are you sure?" She questioned hesitantly.

He nodded.

"Thank you and sorry again." She sat down, still with some hesitation.

"It's no problem. I'm Damon," he said.

"Hayden," she responded, then glanced at me.

"Hi Kai." She spoke quietly and quickly.

"Hayden. How are you?"

"I'm fine." She said and I raised a brow at her but she just faced the front.

Soon class was ending and it was on to the next. Hayden gave a small wave before taking her leave.

Again I could feel his stare but this time he spoke up.

"Seriously, who was that?"

"Why the fuck are you asking?"

"Because I know you and you're never interested in anyone so I just want to know why."

"I met her a few days ago. That's all you need to know." I said before walking away.
