A/n: hey guys, I still have my exams going on but I finally found some time and motivation to write!! this chapter isn't that big but I think it's nice for showing the relationship between Benkei and Y/n and a little bit of Y/n's backstory. More of her backstory will be revealed in later chapters. But till then, I hope you guys like some fluff (I'm not that good at fluff but I like how this turned out)

Y/n's pov:

I take the long way home. I walk as if I never had anywhere to be, taking my time. It has always been like this, before, it was to escape my abusive father, knowing that I had to go home at the end of the day anyway. Now, its because i don't want to face my mother.

Sometimes, i wish i had never come back home, never looked back. Stayed with Benkei when he offered me a place to live. I wish I could go anywhere but home right now.

The sound of a text snaps me out of my thoughts and i stare at my phone, the light illuminating my face against the darkness. I look at the text i just got from Benkei, it says 'Did you reach home safe?'

I stare at the text for some time, I never have to think this much before sending a reply. Ive gotten too familiar with how his brain works. I know that if i tell him im not home yet, he is going to freak out, so I know to lie. But this time, I'm thinking of doing something completely different.

I type out a reply, the sound of the typing eating away at my brain 'Actually, Do you mind if I crash at your place today?'

I know this text isn't going to do much to keep him sane but that's not what I'm aiming for here. Instead, im hoping to keep myself sane just this once.

I stare at the text in confusion but click on send before I can start to question myself

My phone dings, indicating a text from Benkei, 'So you're saying that you aren't home yet?'

I sigh, I kinda knew that this was coming but I don't mind

I see the three dots indicating him typing and soon i see a message flashing on my screen 'sure.'

I know he's probably gonna give me his disappointed look when I reach his place but I'm glad I'm going there.

I soon reach his place and find myself ringing the doorbell. I stand there for a moment with my hands in my pockets, it's gotten really cold, I wouldn't be surprised if it snowed tonight.

Benkei opens the door and I am met with his disappointed face. I come in and before i can get ready for his disappointed comments on how 'he knows I can protect myself' but 'i shouldn't be wandering outside this late' he hugs me.

It's bone-crushing but I let him hug me for some time. "Are you okay?" he asks

I nod against his chest and say a muffled "yes"

"Did something happen with your mom?" He lets me go

"No, i just didn't want to go home"

He nods and leads me to the couch. I sit down and he asks "Have you eaten anything"

I shake my head and he sighs "ill make you something. If you want, we can binge watch movies together"

I start searching for the movies while Benkei makes food. He has always been there for me, since the moment I met him, he's always understood me, helped me with anything I needed. And it's comforting knowing that he's still right here and he always will be. I couldn't ask for a better friend and the gang couldn't ask for a better leader.
