Chapter 43

Back at the party I go back to dancing with Katerina and Luisa on the dance floor. The music they play is really good and I am clearly carried away. It may be due to alcohol.

After a good thirty minutes of dancing I feel that someone is tapping behind my shoulder. It must be Charles who still comes to make somewhat mischievous advances to me. I turn around and find myself face to face with Julien. He speaks to me but I don't understand anything because of the noise so I shout "What?!  like a patient. He then approaches my ear and says "come outside with me and talk for a second".
I don't really want to talk to him, but I don't want him to keep talking to me like that all the time either. I warn the girls that I'm going out and look at Charles who is laughing with Daniel and Pierre and who therefore didn't see me leave.

Emma: Well what do you have to tell me that's so important?

I feel that alcohol makes me take too many wings. I realize that I am a little aggressive and that I have to calm down.

Julien: I needed to talk to you and by message you did not answer.
Emma: Now I'm here so tell me.
Julien: I don't think it's over between you and me.
Emma: Wait what? Where are you getting this from?
Julien: Between you and me it was something special. Stop telling me otherwise.
Emma: All you did was play with me. I don't love you at all anymore and I have no desire to get back together with you or even to continue talking with you.

I head towards the door of the box to join my friends. I've had enough of this conversation.

Julien: Yeah that's it go back and do your big whore and your diamond eater to your pilot.

I turn around and frown. He didn't say that though.

Emma: Wait what did you say there?
Julien: Come on, stop pretending that you really love him and that you're not with him just for the money and the fame.

I smack him.

Emma: You're a big asshole. You don't know anything about my life so don't you dare talk about me anymore. You don't know anything about my relationship with Charles and I thought you knew me well enough to know that I'm not a girl like that. Now excuse me but I'm going back to see my friends and the man I really love.

I head for the door again and say, opening the door and looking at Julien, "I'm done with this son of a bitch."

I hear before the door closes that Julien says "come back there you bitch". I'm starting to get scared. What would happen if he came home and came after me. I still hit him, would he be able to do the same. I quickly sink into the crowd to avoid it and run into a man. I look up and notice it's Charles. I have tears in my eyes and he notices it.

Charles: Hey bébé how are you?

I don't answer and just hug him. I need his arms, his protection and his support. I'll talk to him about everything that happened tonight but tomorrow. It's no use talking about it when he's drunk anyway.

I end my evening by returning with the girls dancing before returning to the chalet around 5 am. It could be complicated for skiing tomorrow.

I go up to join Charles in the bedroom and notice that he is already asleep. I undress him and put him well under the blanket before going to remove my make-up and getting into bed next to him. I stick to him, being careful not to squeeze him too hard so as not to make him want to vomit, you never know.

The alarm rings. I feel like I only slept for 2 hours. But the alarm clock says 11am which means we slept pretty well. I notice that yesterday I forgot to put my phone to charge so I plug it in. I then put on a t-shirt and go downstairs to the others while letting Charles wake up quietly.

Emma: Hi did you sleep well?
Daniel: I haven't slept much myself and I feel like I'm not 20 anymore, hangovers hurt more.
Lando: I'm much younger than you and yet I'm just as bad.

I laugh hearing those two. They are always throwing spades at each other. But it's always in a friendly way so it's funny.

I head to the kitchen and decide to make myself a bowl of cereal along with a coffee. I take them and go sit at the dining room table next to the girls.

I eat quietly when I see Charles coming down. He doesn't look very well, he must surely be sick from the alcohol he drank yesterday.

Charles (in French): Emma, can you come talk for a second please?

I follow him but I ask myself a lot of questions. What does he want to talk about and why did he speak to me in French in front of our friends who don't understand that language?

We take a jacket and we go outside on the terrace.

Charles hands me his phone and says "can you explain that to me? in a very annoyed tone.

gossip_f1 spotted: Emma was seen with another boy last night who she seemed close with on some videos I received. Has she already forgotten and replaced Charles? Or so it seems.

I don't understand what is happening at the moment. How could someone take a picture yesterday? And how come I didn't know about that. I realize that I haven't turned on my phone yet as I forgot to charge and I can't even imagine how many notifications and hurtful words I'm going to see on my phone when I open it.

Emma: I can explain everything to you baby.
Charles: You went to see a guy when we were at a party together? And when was it, before or after we fucked together in the bathroom?
Emma: Charles stop getting on your nerves, I'll explain everything to you, nothing happened.

I try to grab his hand but he violently pulls his hand away and pushes me away causing me to fall to the ground.

Pierre rushes out and yells at Charles.

Pierre: Damn Charles, what are you doing here?
Charles: Well, I don't know, ask the bitch who's cheating on me.
Peter: Wait what? Emma?

He turns to me, looking at me questioningly. Tears are starting to roll down my cheeks.

Emma: I didn't cheat on you Charles.
Charles: So why am I seeing stuff that says you're cheating on me all over the internet huh??
Emma: I'll explain everything to you but calmly please baby.
Charles: Don't call me baby.

Rage rises in him, you can see it in his eyes which turn black with anger.

Charles: I have to get out of here.
Emma: No stay.

He leaves in the snow, which makes me cry even harder. Pierre crouched down to talk to me.

Pierre: What happened tell me.

I try to dry my tears, then I explain to him everything that happened.

Pierre: You should try to find him, and go have a drink somewhere or sit on a bench or whatever and explain to him. There must be millions of films in his head when nothing happened.
Emma: Yeah I'll do that you're right. Thanks Piere.
Pierre: It's normal.

I give him a hug before going the same way as Charles to try to regain.
