Chapter 50

I open my eyes with difficulty. My eyelids are heavy. I have a headache. I don't understand where I am or what happened. I notice that I have an infusion in my hand. Am I in the hospital?

I try to come to my senses and remember what happened. All I remember is that I found out through Max that Charles was cheating on me and I called him and then back out.
As I'm lost in thought the door to my room opens. And I see it's Charles coming in.

Emma: What are you doing here?
Charles: Oh my baby you woke up.
Emma: Don't call me baby. Not when you're cheating on your "baby".
Charles: Stop, I didn't cheat on you. You remember so I see that yesterday we called and you told me that I was cheating on you, and while we were on the phone you felt unwell. It was Max who took your phone and informed me of what had just happened.
Emma: Max? He was there?
Charles: Yes and luckily he was there he was the one who called the emergency services etc.

I try to understand everything he tells me. I feel like my brain is slowing down.

Charles: Are you okay? Because when you fell yesterday you had a little concussion.
Emma: It's fine but I have a very bad headache.
Charles: Rest too okay. I'm here and we'll talk about everything later. There's your sister, Chloé and Léa who are in the cafeteria, I'm going to tell them that you're awake.
Emma: Alright thank you.

He leaves and leaves me alone. While waiting for my friends to arrive I take a bottle of water which is there and I drink half of it. I'm really very thirsty, probably because of the alcohol I drank last night.

The door opens again and I see my sister's little face.

Élodie: Oh my heart how are you??

She runs towards me and takes me in her arms.

Emma: Oh slowly slowly please.
Élodie: Oh yes sorry. But it is okay?
Emma: Yes it's fine.
Léa: Charles came to see you?
Emma: Yes he came. But I don't want to se him.
Chloé: He came back from his vacation in an emergency to come to your side.
Emma: Yes but he explained to you why I had called him at the base?
Chloe: He explained to me that you thought he cheated on you. But he also explained to me what was really going on and I think you should talk to him about it.

I nod my head shyly. I don't want to talk to him but I know I'll have to.

The girls leave my room and Charles comes back. He explains to me that he is going to get things from home because we have to spend the night here. Anyway I have to spend the night here and he doesn't want to leave me alone.

So I take this opportunity to call to go take a shower after the nurse confirmed to me that I could. I see that my head is really horrible. I have hair that goes all over the place, a complexion of a corpse, in short, nothing is right. So I send a message to Charles and ask him to take my makeup and my hairbrush. We're going to have to make up for all that.

About an hour later he comes to my room again. Without talking too much I grab my bag and leave to do my beauty. Although my hospital outfit is ugly, I at least want to look good with the rest. After a good thirty minutes I finished and I come out of the bathroom.

Charles: Wow you are...you are gorgeous.
Emma: Thank you that's nice.
Charles: It's time to go eat would you like to go down to the cafeteria? I asked your nurse and you can go.
Emma: Yeah that's fine with me.

We get down and sit down. Charles won't let me wear anything and will get me absolutely everything I want. The meal isn't amazing but for a hospital it's ok.
It's a bit cold between Charles and me. He tries to strike up a conversation but I don't really want to talk to him. I know it's a bit selfish considering what he's done for me, but I can't get over the incidents of last night.

Charles: Was it good with Chloe and your sister? Did you still enjoy it?
Emma: Yes, but suddenly it was short. They told me they were going to leave tomorrow to let me rest but I'm a little sad that they're leaving so early.
Charles: Yeah I guess...

A great silence invades our table. I want to break it up and pull out a boat sentence.

Emma: Well I really want a dessert and you?
Charles: I can't because of the diet but tell me what do you want?
Emma: Roh you're not very funny. Well try to take what looks the least like jelly and you'll be fine.

He gets up and brings me a chocolate mousse which was very good. After having engulfed my mousse in two or three bites, we go back to the room.

We put the TV on and I go to my phone until it's a convenient time to go to sleep. I'm going to take off my make-up and do my little routine with the things Charles brought me and I'm going to get into bed. I notice that Charles has landed on an armchair space and has taken his sweater as a blanket. Even if there are problems in our marriage right now, I can't leave it like that.

Emma: Where are you going to sleep?
Charles: On that chair, but don't worry, it'll be fine.
Emma: But no stop come sleep with me.
Charles: Are you sure? I do not want to bother you.
Emma: But no come.

I move and he comes to stand by my side. The bed is not large we are forced to be a little glued to each other. We turn off the light and try to sleep. But after 10 minutes in the dark I crack. I leave in tears.

Charles: What's up Emma?
Emma: I...I...

My sobs don't stop.
Charles turns on the light and takes me in his arms. He whispers to me that everything will be fine and that I need to calm down. Once my tears subsided and my breath resumed, I began to explain to him.

Emma: You can't imagine the pain I felt seeing that picture of you with the girl.
Charles: I have to explain to you what really happened because I swear it's not what you think.
Emma: Oke I'm listening tell me.
Charles: So as you know I was with my friends and we were on a boat and we went to sea. At one point another boat came towards us and on it there were girls who came near us to talk to me because they were fans. So there, being nice, I told them that she could go up just to take a picture and that after that, we had to leave. Except that one of them goes up and she passes out. So we went to fetch her some water. Afterwards she woke up and she told me that it was seeing me that had too much of an effect on her and that she lost consciousness. So me to be nice you see the girl she just passed out because she saw me I took a picture with her and for the picture I just put my arm around her. Already to be nice and moreover because she was really not well the girl she had just woken up. But that's all, nothing else happened after they left and that's it. I will never cheat on you, I love you too much for that. You saw as soon as they told me you weren't well, I sent for a jet to be able to come to you as quickly as possible.
Emma: Oh...okay. Basically, you did the right thing with that girl... I'm sorry.
Charles: Don't apologize it's normal you saw the photo on stupid sites and here it is. It's one of the problems when you're known, you have to trust me 1000% otherwise the media and instagram accounts and everything you want will destroy us. Don't believe the gossip. Look what it's done to your little health, my heart.

He grabs my head and kisses me. I cry a little and fall asleep completely exhausted in his arms.
