PRESENT TIME

"Last night when Zane and I took a walk at the beach he asked me for a big favour." I begin to tell the story to Lanet, but before I can finish Zane's foot connects with my shin from under the table and I yelp.

"What's wrong?" Teddy asks concerned

I send a subtle glare Zane's way and he smirks.

"I thought I felt something crawl up my leg, but it was nothing."

"Well, anyway, guess who came by my office a few days ago?" Lanet heaves tiredly

"Who?"

"Hue. He invited me to a private viewing that's this coming Friday."

"Private viewing?" I ask

"Yes, he has cut up the blue diamond and made jewellery pieces, so he's putting them on display." he swallows painfully.

"He's so petty, a viewing just for your heirloom." Zane snarls

"I'm sure there'll be plenty of other things there."

Zane and I share a look.

"Alright, you two. Out with it, I swear if neither of you tells me what's this secret, I'm going to...,"

"Do you know the location of the viewing?" Zane cuts Lanet off

"Hold on." Lanet fishes out his wallet and pulls out a black and gold card. "He gave me that"

"Oh." Zane places a similar card on the table. "The jewellery will be contained within the security system my sister created and that's the secret between Beau and me."

"I don't understand." Lanet's eyebrows pinch together in confusion

"Hue is displaying his most precious jewel and also his most secure system. Very top-notch people will be there." Zane explains

Lanet raises an eyebrow at me. "What's that got to do with Beau?"

"Zane asked me if I could break into it. I haven't agreed yet." I blurt out

"But last night you said...Ouch." Now it's my turn to connect my foot with Zane's shin, silencing him immediately.

"I said I would think about it, but now that we know the Blue Diamond will be displayed we could work together." I smile.

"Why didn't you tell me about this?" Lanet asks

"I was going to, but then my mouth was occupied with other things," I smirk

"What?" Teddy asks, his face contorted into confusion. "Oh" He turns visibly red when he pieces together what I might be referring to.

Lanet shakes his head. "Beau, I'm serious."

"I promise I was going to tell you, I just didn't know how. Plus Zane said he'd do something for me in return."

"Not tell, but ask. He was going to ask you because we need you." Zane corrects

"Since when are you even into this stuff Zane?"

"Aren't you the one who wanted Beau out?" Zane retorts

"Yes, I wanted him out not in."

Zane and Lanet glare at each other.

"Are you talking about me, I'm sitting right here."

They both turn to look at me.

"So as I was saying, we work together, but we will do it my way. I'll talk to the others." Zane nods, Teddy is only paying half attention, and Lanet is still glaring at Zane.
