Collins POV
I really wish Saylor didn't mention us playing against Milton Prep to Riven. I was going to tell her eventually, but not this soon. I know that it bothered her that I didn't tell her myself.
"Come on, Collins, five more!" my dad shouts at me as I do my push-ups. My dad and I sometimes train on the weekends when he is home during pre-season. It is like our father daughter bonding time.
"Outta girl. Good job!" he high-fives me as I finish my last rep. We both walk over to the steps and sit down for a drink of water.
"If you keep working this hard you are going to give Clarke a run for her money" he smiles at me.
"Oh Clarke is not going to see me coming when I play against her"
"Against her? So Stanford isn't on the table for you?"
"I mean it is a great school and the coach was really nice when she talked to me, but I think I have my eyes on another school. I'll keep them on my list though"
As I sit there with my dad I feel like I am finally ready to tell him the truth. But the nerves are really strong."Hey, dad, I need to tell you something" I look at him.
"What's up?" he asks with concern as he sees my expression.
"Um, well I have been wanting to tell you and mom this for a while, but I was nervous and didn't want you guys to worry about me. Um, I'm bisexual" there is a slight pause of silence.
"Aw Cols come here" he pulls me into a big hug. "Sweetie me and your mom love you no matter what. And why did you think this was going to worry us?"
"Thanks dad. And I just didn't want what happened with Clarke to happen again. I know that you guys love and support us and that you don't care what our sexuality is, but I know how things affected you and mom when Clarke came out"
"Cols, we do not care what other people think. We will always love and support you guys. Fuck everyone else and what they think. I will never choose reputation or money over my kids and their happiness" he smiles at me.
"Thank you dad. I love you"
"I love you too Cols"
"Oh and also my friend Riven that I have told you about, she is actually my girlfriend"
"When do we get to meet her?!" he asks excitedly.
"I can ask her to come over next weekend if you and mom are free"
"Yes. Tell her that we are inviting her to dinner. I will make sure me and your mom free up our schedule"
"Okay I'll go call her right now" I happily say as I get up to go inside and call Riven.
Later that day when my mom came back from shopping with Kian I came out to her and told her about Riven. She was very supportive and happy for me. She did cry a bit, but because she was upset that I didn't tell her earlier and hide it from them out of worriedness for them.
I calmed her down by mentioning that dad invited Riven to dinner so that they can meet her next weekend. She soon started to look for a place to go. I think my parents were more excited about seeing Riven than I was. But it made me really happy that they were so excited to meet her.
.................
It is next weekend and my parents made reservations for us to go to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. I am already dressed and at Riven's house.
I have on a short skin tight black dress with a plaid gray blazer on top and my black doc martens on. We are going to meet my parents at the restaurant. Riven wanted me to come over to help her pick out what to wear. She is a bit nervous.
