Ch. 6 ~ unOfficially Yours

University.

"Why are these people staring at me? What’s going on?"

Doby had no idea why so many people were looking at him. He had taken a break from social media to avoid seeing any updates about Pierre and Jace. Staying away from the internet was his way of focusing on himself and taking time to reflect.

Just then, his phone rang. It was Jace.

"Hello?"

"Doby, can we meet after your class?"

Jace asked. Doby hesitated.

"Why? I have something important to do later. I don’t think I can meet you."

He tried to decline Jace’s invitation. He didn’t want to be associated with him too much anymore. Their names had trended before because of Jace’s fans, who loved to post stories and photos of them together. People had taken pictures of them in malls, outside the JNN building, and even inside Jace’s car.

Doby now understood how being in the public eye affected his privacy. Although he appreciated the sweet things fans wrote about them, most of which were positive, it was different for Jace. Jace was about to start a new series, and Doby knew from the start that his management would begin limiting their interactions again.

It was the same situation with Pierre. They weren’t allowed to post pictures or videos together. They had to act like they were just casual acquaintances. They couldn’t be seen taking care of each other in public, as it might affect Jace’s image with his co-star and the fans who supported the on-screen couple. Before Doby could argue further, Jace quickly ended the call.

"I’ll wait for you, Dob! 6:30 PM. Bye!"

Jace hung up before Doby could come up with another excuse. He knew Doby had been trying to avoid him.

Café.

As soon as Doby entered the café, someone called out to him.

"Hi! Are you Dobyson Natachai?"

He turned toward the voice and responded shyly,

"Krub!"

The girl in front of him looked thrilled to see him.

"Can I take a picture with you? Nong! I didn’t expect you to be this cute and pretty in person!"

Doby was taken aback.

"Huh? Me? A picture?"

"Yes! Please!"

"Uhh… okay, fine."

To his surprise, it wasn’t just her. Almost everyone in the café suddenly wanted a picture with him.

"Excuse me for a moment, please. My friend is waiting for me."

The girl smiled and pointed toward a corner of the café.

"Jace is over there."

Doby blinked in confusion.

[Wait… so they even knew who I was meeting here? This feels weird.~ Doby]

He turned toward Jace, who was waving at him with a grin.

"Dob! Over here!"

Jace called out, offering him a seat.
Doby sat down, still puzzled.

"P'Jace… people are acting strange. They seem so excited, and they keep asking for pictures."

Jace chuckled. He found Doby’s confused expression adorable.

"Of course! You’re popular, Dob. Even if you don’t have a solo project yet, people still recognize you. Plus… you’re cute."
