After Doby and Pierre signed their contracts with JNN, they began meeting both new and familiar artists at the company. They took part in workshops for acting, singing, and dancing, and they even made guest appearances on shows hosted by other JNN artists.
At University
One day at the university, Doby’s mom called him.
“Pierre, come have dinner with us, it's Debbie’s birthday,”
Hee said.
Pierre, busy finishing his last subject, replied,
“Oh, I forgot to tell you, I have a schedule today.”
Pierre, his best friend, was busy that day. When Doby asked,
“What is it about?”
Pierre answered,
“I don’t know exactly, but they promised I would be happy about it.”
Pierre hesitated to share details because he was worried about how Doby might react. Doby smiled and said,
“Well, Jing Jing, why aren’t you excited? It might be a great opportunity. Call me if you have any big news.”
Pierre apologized
“Please tell Mom I’m sorry, I can’t go with you today.”
Even though Pierre felt a bit guilty for leaving Doby behind, he knew his friend was happy for him. Doby replied,
“It’s okay, Mom will understand.”
At the JNN Practice Studio
Later at the practice studio, Doby asked Again.
“Where are we going to eat after this?”
Looking tired, Doby said,
“I’m so hungry, Pierre!”
Pierre was busy fixing his things and responded,
“I’m sorry, I can’t eat with you today. We have a meeting with the production team. I need to leave right now.”
Just then, Pete called out to Pierre,
“Are you ready? We have to go together!”
Pierre, who was about to be paired on-screen with Pete for the launch of a new BL series on JNNtv.
“Oh, okay, that’s fine. Good luck!”
Doby smiled as his friend left with Pete. Alone, he sighed and said,
“Hmph… I guess I’ll just eat in the cafeteria. Poor lonely boy.”
In the JNN Cafeteria.
Sitting in the cafeteria, Doby thought,
“I never imagined I would be eating here by myself.”
Even though Doby was happy that Pierre got his first big break as a debut actor (even if he did not have his own solo project yet), he felt sad. Their time together was not like before, Pierre’s schedule was busy, and he now spent more time with Pete, just as the management had suggested to help boost the image of their on-screen partnership.
Flashback.
A week earlier, Pierre had said,
“They asked me to lead a BL series. I still haven’t decided what my answer will be. They gave me time to think.”
Doby, surprised and amazed, tried to help his best friend make up his mind.
“Did you read the script and the terms of the series? How does it look?”
