Ch. 10 ~ PAST or FUTURE

After their TV guesting, Doby felt confused about his feelings. At first, he tried to ignore it, but as the weeks passed, the uneasiness in his heart only grew stronger. A couple of months later, he realized that he wasn’t feeling good at all.

Jace often invited him out for dinner, but Doby always refused. He told himself that he was just too busy with school, especially with his group project, so he decided to focus on his studies instead. However, deep inside, he knew there was another reason.

One day, he found out that Jace had sleepovers with other friends before and even after meeting him. Learning this made Doby feel uneasy. It didn’t sit right with him, and doubts started creeping into his mind. He began questioning his place in Jace’s life.

"I thought I was special to him. I believed that the things he did for me taking me to fancy dinners, having sleepovers, and showing me so much care were meant only for me. But now, I’m starting to wonder… Was I wrong to think that way?"

Doby is a cheerful and lively person, but in the past, he used to keep his thoughts and feelings to himself.

He has known Jace from the very beginning and has followed his journey closely, even before Jace became an artist under JNN. Over time, Doby watched all of Jace’s series and supported his work. However, there was one particular series, the Y series from another company, that he chose not to watch.

One day, while reading comments on a cooking show, Doby came across messages that made him feel uncertain and insecure. He started to doubt himself, especially after realizing that Jace had previous partners. Even though he admired Jace, those comments made him question if he was good enough compared to the people from Jace’s past.

The comments he read started to bother him deeply. He couldn’t stop thinking about them and found himself comparing the way Jace treated him to how Jace interacted with other artists in the past.

Even though these thoughts troubled him, he tried his best to keep them to himself. He felt that he had no right to question Jace about it. After all, they were just co-workers, and their relationship was built on their professional partnership.

Doby reminded himself that he had a role to play in their brand too. No matter how he felt, he needed to stay focused and do his part. But deep down, the feelings of insecurity and doubt still lingered.

JNN Building

"Doby, where are you going?"

"I'm heading to the practice room."

"I'm coming with you!"

Pie and Doby walked together to the practice room, where Jace and Pete were already waiting. They had an upcoming FanFest event in Japan, and they needed to rehearse to prepare for it.

As soon as Doby entered, Jace turned to him.

"Dob, I've been calling you."

"Oh, sorry... I didn’t hear you."

"It's okay, no worries. But let's have dinner together after practice, okay?"

"Huh? Ahm..."

"No excuses! You’re not allowed to say no. It's been a while since we last had dinner together, and I miss spending time with you."
