The four became silent once more as Sarv drove before the silence was broken by Essie.
"Dedushka?" Krus turned to Essie.
"Yes?"
"Do you blame yourself?" Krus tilted his head in confusion at her question. "Do you blame yourself for everything that's happened during the time you were gone? Do you blame yourself for father's criminal status? Do you blame yourself for the fact that me and my siblings are cambions? Do you blame yourself for you and babushka's d3@th$?"
"I...I don't know." Krus answered.

Essie's POV
"When you meet someone who is similar to you in personality and mannerisms, you can read them like a magazine, so I could tell in an instant that dedushka was lying. However, I decided not to pry in case he wouldn't be comfortable."

Third person POV
"Why do you ask?" Krus asked.
"When it comes to situations like this, some people, especially people with a strong sense of responsibility, tend to blame themselves and think that it's somehow their fault that it happened, when, in reality, it was out of their control." Essie said. She then took her grandfather's hands in hers and looked him deep in the eyes. "It's NOT your fault, you did NOT play a part in this, and you and babushka's d3@th$ were NOT your fault, dedushka."
Krus smiled. "Thank you, Essie."
Essie smiled back. "You're very welcome, dedushka."

After Sarv had parked the car in the police station's parking lot and hastily tried to take off her seat belt, stopping when Krus put a hand on her shoulder. Affie's eyes widened and her jaw dropped, and Essie had to close it for her.
"Why don't you let me go in first to see what's going on, Sarvente?" Krus asked. "I used to be a police officer, so I know how to talk to other officers. I don't have a license anymore, but I'm sure they'll do me a favor just this once."
Sarv looked into his eyes, then at his hand that was still on her shoulder. Krus followed her gaze and quickly withdrew his hand.

Affie's POV
"It was obvious that dedushka was disgusted and appalled by what he just did, and was currently internally reprimanding himself for it, as he is a traditionalist guy who was taught that demons are evil and ended up internalizing that mindset. We understand that but... *sighs*... we wish that wasn't so."

Third person POV
Sarv nodded. "Please hurry back, though. I'm worried."
"I will." Krus said.
"Can me and Essie come with you?" Affie said.
"We promise to stay behind you and to speak only when needed." Essie promised.
Krus sighed. "Alright." The sisters and their grandfather then walked out of the car and to the entrance of the police station.

When they went in, they went to the nearest desk and spoke to a man with black hair and blue eyes.
"Excuse me, officer." Krus started. "But my lover was arrested and-"
