Three weeks have passed since the band reached Tokyo, but Zhan is still feeling screwed, to say the least. No, things are much, much worse. If he calculates how many hours of sleep he's gotten, the number will be terribly low. He wants to scream and rethink his life choices because everyone takes the matter of his heart as a joke. Especially Cheng and Ji Li!
They treat him like a puppet, forget that he has a heart too, and it gets hurt. He feels suffocated getting in between them. He knows he needs to speak up and assert himself, but the fear of confrontation holds him back. He can feel the tension building within him, threatening to explode at any moment as Ji Li takes too much right on him and bombards him with questions.
"What do you plan for your future?" Ji Li's voice echoes in his mind, pushing him further into a corner. "Do you have any plan to repay for Yibo's help, even if you don't want to repay for his love?"
"Ji Li..." Zhan warns, his frustration and anger bubbling to the surface.
Ji Li ignores Zhan's warning, continuing to push his buttons. "How long are you going to be selfish, only caring about your adoptive family? You can't even see how much Yibo has done for you. He has given you everything that your so-called family never could. Yet you're blind to the truth."
Zhan struggles to keep his emotions in check; his jaw clenched tightly as he tries to find the right words to respond. The pressure weighs heavily on him, the guilt of not being able to fully reciprocate Yibo's feelings gnawing at his conscience. He knows that he needs to confront Ji Li and stand up for himself, but he sees nothing wrong with his questions.
He stands up and walks to the bathroom, splashing water on his face as conflicting emotions consume him. He heaves a breath and looks at his reflection in the mirror, tears mingling with the water on his cheeks. "I'm not blind. I know Yibo and I are mates, but... I'm scared of what will happen if I follow my heart. I don't want to be selfish and be the cause of everyone's fall. If I fall, I will fall alone," he sobs quietly.
When he hears a slight conversation coming from the living room, he quickly composes himself and wipes away his tears. Taking a deep breath, he exits the bathroom and joins Ji Li and Cheng, trying to push his inner turmoil aside for the time being.
As the evening wears on, he can't shake the feeling of uncertainty that has settled in his chest. Despite the laughter and chatter around him, he feels a sense of isolation and fear creeping in. Deep down, he knows that he shouldn't stress out when he has a concert after the meet and greet.
The bandmates reach the arena without any trouble and are scheduled to have a meet and greet in a couple of hours. Zhan is exhausted, with bags under his eyes that are a deep purple, so he pulls his cap low over his face to avoid being seen by people. Winding through the arena, a young teen makes an aborted noise, catching his attention. He makes eye contact with him, then shoves his cap lower and hustles away.
