But... there is always something about silence that makes us stop and makes us think, and it is the only thing filling Zhan's hotel room right now. Silence is both an upside and a downside to living in a small, dimly lit room. During moments of quiet and confusion, we find ourselves in a void where no sound can reach us. That's what Zhan is experiencing at this very moment.

Without his brother by his side, there is no one to keep him entertained and distract him from this solitude

Without his brother by his side, there is no one to keep him entertained and distract him from this solitude. His brother had ensured his comfort, reminding him to lock the door before heading out with Fanxing to meet their band manager, Wang Yizhou, who is the elder brother of Ji Li in their group, to discuss an upcoming four-month tour that will take them not only across China but also throughout East Asia.

The television plays on mute, and the curtains are drawn, blocking out the sunlight and creating a cocoon of darkness as Zhan lies on the couch. His eyes are fixed on the plaster of the ceiling, refusing to close. The various flashes and colors on the structure above feel too stimulating for his mind, but he lacks the motivation to get up and turn off the television.

When does what he wishes to happen then happen now? A knock on the door makes him groan and sit up. He glances at the clock, which reads 2:56 p.m. That means his brother has been out for almost three hours, so it could be him, but what if it is some infamous neighbors who have key-losing habits?

He's heard countless tales about them from his brother, who assures him they mean no harm but are just forgetful, so he shakes his head and ignores the sound, letting his head fall back onto the cushion.

He bolts upright when he hears a loud knock that almost sounds like the door creaking open. Taking care to be quiet, he pads across the carpet to the corner of the room and grabs the guitar leaning against the wall. "I don't know if it's a deadly weapon, but if I get in a good shot, I can probably knock the intruder out and tie them up until my brother arrives."

Gripping the neck of the instrument tightly, he moves to the door and opens it slightly to peek outside. To his surprise, no one is there—not even an insect or an animal—but he's sure he heard a knock, well, several knocks. Also, a loud one!

"What is happening here?" he wonders, biting his lip in confusion.

Whatever, he will face it when it happens again. He steps back and moves to close the door when he sees the pages of an open notebook flipping in the air. He narrows his eyes, watching it as if facing a dangerous animal, but when his mind convinces him to check whether anyone is near, he looks around and finds none. He returns his gaze to the notebook and stares at it, figuring out what to do next.

After coming to a decision, he leans forward to grab the notebook and places his hand on the only page that is written. "Tuesday's meeting was over. Today, Thursday..." He swallows hard, his hand clutching the paper tightly as his eyes remain fixed on it. No matter how hard he tries to forget certain things, he still can't... well, can't or won't?
