In Kings Landing, Shae and two servants help Sansa with the final touches of her makeup. Shae answers a knock at the door of Sansa's chambers, revealing Valen, who wore a white long-sleeve cotton shirt with golden vine details, a golden clasped black doublet, long black ankle lace-up banded trousers, a detailed golden belt, and knee-high leather boots. Her hair was pulled back and braided with a beautiful headpiece Tyrion had made for her. It has antique gold plated Antlers and Leaves, Stampings adorned with three green emeralds Cabochons. Shea moves to allow Valen in as the two servants bow and then leave. Valen stared at Sansa in awe. She wore a stunning green velvet dress with an embroidered wolf on her chest and a long fur cloak bearing the Stark sigil on the back. "....Gods, you are absolutely breathtaking," Valen whispered, causing Sansa to blush and look down shyly.

"You look very dashing, my lady," Sansa complimented, taking in the young stag's beauty. She reminded Sansa of a buck she saw outside Winterfell when she was a child. So regal and noble, like a king of the forest.

"Perhaps we could have a moment alone. Do you mind, Shae?" Valen asked. Shae bows and then leaves the room. Valen moves forward, taking Sansa's hands in hers. "You won't be a prisoner after today. You'll be my wife.... And I'm sorry that this wasn't your choice to make, but I promise you one thing, my Lady. I won't ever hurt you and will spend my life making you happy," Valen vowed. Both girls smile tearfully as they lean their heads together.

The great doors open to the Sept of Baelor. Sansa walks through them alone while Valen stands on the stage, watching. The crowd quiets as Sansa pauses at the top of the steps. Joffrey approaches, smirking. "What are you doing?" Sansa asked in surprise.

"Your father's gone. As the father of the realm, it is my duty to give you away," he explained, offering his arm to her. Sansa takes Joffrey's arm as the doors close. They descend the stairs and walk through the crowd. Sansa and Joffrey approach Valen, passing Ser Bronn of the Blackwater, Margaery, Lady Olenna Tyrell, Loras, Cersei, Lord Tywin, and Grand Maester Pycelle. They reach Valen and the High Septon. Joffrey steps back and joins his mother and grandfather.

"You may now cloak the bride and bring her under your protection," the Septon said. Shae removes Sansa's cloak for her. Valen steps forward, draping a yellow cloak with a black stag embroiled over Sansa's shoulders. "Your Grace, Your Grace, my lords, my ladies, we stand here in the sight of gods and men to witness this union. One flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever," the Septon announced.

Later at the wedding reception, Joffrey and Cersei sit amidst the festivities drinking wine and chatting. Tywin sits to their left, stoic. At the head table, Valen sat with Sansa holding her hand. Tyrion sat on the other side of his niece and smacked his lips as he carefully and drunkenly filled his wine glass to the brim. The Tyrells sit across the hall from the Lannisters. Olenna speaks with amusement to Loras and Margaery. "After you're wed to Cersei, you will be the king's stepfather and brother-in-law. When you marry the king, Joffrey's mother will become his sister-in-law, and your son will be Loras' nephew? Grandson? I'm not sure. But your brother will become your father-in-law. That much is beyond dispute," she explained. Loras suddenly stands and leaves in a huff. Back at the head table, Valen signals a servant catching Sansa's attention.

"You told me that you once had a lovely friend named Lady? I can't bring her back, but I hope this gift will heal the hole in your heart from her passing," Valen said as a servant moved forward, setting a basket covered with a blanket on the table before Sansa. She looks at it in confusion until she sees something move beneath the blanket. Sansa removes the blanket revealing a dark brown wolf pup with light blue eyes.

Tears filled Sansa's eyes as she picked the puppy up, "Thank you," she whispered while holding the puppy against her chest.

That night after the reception, Valen opens the door to her chambers for Sansa, who looks nervous as she carries a sleeping wolf pup. Once the door is closed and locked, Valen turns to Sansa, "Don't worry, we won't be doing anything until you are ready," she explained.

Sansa relaxed a bit, " But what about your grandfather? He expects you to get me pregnant as soon as possible," she pointed out.

"Tomorrow, we leave for Storms End, so he won't be a problem," Valen explained.

"...and if I'm never ready?" Sansa asked, looking down.

"Then one of my siblings or their children will take Storms End when I pass," Valen answered, then kissed Sansa on the head.

Thirteen days later, Valen steps out of a carriage, holding her hand out. Sansa takes her hand and steps out. Her eyes widen in awe as she looks at the castle of Storms End, which is surrounded by a massive outer curtain wall, one hundred feet high and forty feet thick on its thinnest side and nearly eighty feet thick on its seaward side. It is composed of a double course of pale grey stone with an inner core of sand and rubble. The wall is smooth and curving, the stones so well placed and so perfectly fit together that the wind can find no purchases. On the seaward side, there is a one-hundred-fifty-foot drop below the wall into the sea. There is no safe anchorage by the castle. The curtain wall protects the castle's kitchens, stables, and yard. Storm's End has only one tower, a colossal drum tower crowned with formidable battlements, making it look like a vast, spiked fist thrusting toward the sky. The seaward side of the castle stands upon Durran's Point, a high white cliff overlooking the sea. There is a watery passage through a cavern that leads beneath the castle, protected by a portcullis, bars, and murder holes. The godswood of Storm's End has a weirwood heart tree carved with a solemn face. A group of bannermen, civilians, and servants happily greet Valen and Sansa. "The Stag of Blackwater!" They all cheered.

That night Sansa lay asleep in the bed she shared with Valen. The wolf pup lay curled up in her arms as Valen sat at a table. A single candle gave Valen enough light to read a letter sent to her from Lord Varys. Juno tiptoes into the room and sits across from Valen at the table. "Varys has been kind enough to warn me that Walder Frey and Roose Bolton plan to have Sansa's brother and parents killed. We can not let this happen. I need you to infiltrate house Frey and hinder their plan," Valen ordered.
