Keith's POV:
Keith hates the sea. No traumatic backstory to this, no seasickness, no un-ability to swim, nothing like that. Keith just hates the sea, and makes it VERY obvious to everyone who knows him.
Keith takes off his shoes to walk on the sand: it stains his feet some horrid yellow, not to mention it's hot, and little pieces of sand get somehow stuck in his hair, under his nails, and stuck to his skin.
Keith goes into the sea: it's freezing cold, it smells like fish, and the smell sticks onto him for about a week, no matter how much soap he uses in the shower. Plus, the moment he walks out and back onto the sand, it sticks to his feet like glue. Scraping off the wet clumps of sand from his legs isn't his idea of fun.
Moral of the story: Keith hates the sea.
But of course, his brother, Shiro, loves the sea. To the point Keith's convinced the only reason why he likes it so much is JUST so he can piss Keith off.
Shiro knows Keith's feelings regarding the sea. Yet he still tries to drag Keith to little trips to the beach either way. This usually end ups with Keith just sitting in the car for hours, flipping Shiro off from the rolled-down window.
So when Shiro showed up early from work, with a very familiar grin Keith knew too well, he was ready to jump out the window. Why? Because a couple pieces of shattered glass stuck in Keith's skin is way better than going to the sea. And yes. That's how much Keith hates the ocean.
"Hey Keith-" Shiro started, untying his purple-striped tie.
"No, whatever beach trip you got planned out, let me stop you right there: I'm not going." Keith interrupted, immediately getting on the defensive.
"I haven't even said anything-" Shiro tried.
"Nope!"
"I-"
"No no no no no!"
"Keith, would you at least least let me finish-"
"NOPE, NO, NOPE NOPE NOPE!"
Shiro rolled his eyes, before smirking slightly. "Are you done?"
Keith flopped down onto the rusty-red couch they had in the living room. Shiro and Keith both lived together; mainly because their parents worked for a huge company, Marmora. This caused their parents to fly off around the world to attend countless meetings. They were never around because of this, so when Shiro declared he was moving out of Texas, Keith had nothing better to do, so he tagged along. Keith didn't care for his mother, her being so often away from home, he only saw her in pictures and in really rare video calls. His dad, he was lucky to see him until Keith turned eight, where he also fell prey to these never-ending business trips.
Shiro was his one and only brother, despite their age gap, he tends to act more childish than one might think. How he got a high ranking position at the Garrison? Keith didn't know.
"Keith, you'll never guess what happened today!" Shiro chirped, happily clapping his hands. "We got invited!"
"To what?" Keith asked, narrowing his eyes. He felt like a bomb was going to drop.
"You remember Allura, right?"
"...Yeah?" Keith raised an brow. "What about her?"
"She invited us to a party! A small one, but who cares?" Shiro grinned like a mad man. "It sounds like fun, plus she invited some of her friends, don't worry, some are the same age as you, so you'll be able to make some friends of your own!" Shiro babbled.
"Ah, I see. So Adam's going to be there, huh?" Keith smirked, seeing how Shiro visibly turned red.
Allura was the daughter of Alfor, who was so rich many people considered her a princess. She came from old money, and worked in the Garrison with Shiro.
