AMANDINE 'S POV
The Red Cross retinue, as I fondly called these three special people, returned to London to welcome the New year 1985 and start to pack up to Rio. And with them their wives and children. It had been crazy but I knew that Freddie felt so happy and that made me happy too. Both Ronnie and Chrissie were lovely, very nice but I couldn't say the same about Dominique.
I would never forgive the words she spoke to me and how badly she made me feel. I'd always liked her not only because we came from the same country but also because it seemed to me that she was one of the wounded people by Elideth's irrational attitude. Our heroine couldn't imagine how dangerous it could become playing with the wrong person. And I thought Dom's jealousy had developed into a sort of violent hatred from which nobody seemed to be safe. It was so hard holding her gaze. She looked at me as though she could look through me. And that always made me feel vulnerable, strangely weak. But I pulled myself together trying to do my best to fake it.
- Well, we finally leave you alone.
- Freddie will miss you all.
- Who said that the visits as well as the fish stink after three days? Do I stink for you, mademoiselle Soler?
Definitely you do. You smell like threaten and I don't know why.
- I wish you a good trip back to Britain -I summed it up, trying to be exquisitely polite and so getting rid of her.
- What do you know about your boss Mrs. Mercury? The papers are saying they have already filed for divorce.
- I got nothing to tell you.
- All the British tabloids are crazy trying to find out where that bad bitch is hiding. Gosh, I should be careful with my words -she covered her mouth, naughty-. You must know where she is.
- And you think I will tell you.
- As countrywomen it's nothing wrong about it. That's the least you could do.
- I can't forget the offences so easily. Call me resentful.
- What did I do to you? I got a volatile mind depends on what.
- You know perfectly what you told me. You don't forget either. If not, we wouldn't talk about Elideth Mercury. When will you get over that?
- Just when she gets what she deserves, then I will be in peace. Whenever Mercury marriage's foundations are shaking, my relationship do it as well.
- That stupid theory makes no sense at all. Elideth got enough problems just to sleep with Roger at your back. It's totally ridiculous.
- Roger drove his car like mad when he found out that whore had gone away, that's not ridiculous to me.
- You think he knows where she is hiding and they are having an affair all this time.
- Perhaps. But I don't want to ask him because we would start one of our fights and I'm not quite sure of the result. Tell me at least if she has left Great Britain.
