2nd POV

You and your team came to stop for a quick break during your patrol. You were all rehydrating and eating rationed protein bars that you were given in a safe spot. You were only worried if any nomus would attack you guys while you were all off guard, but so far, there wasn't a sign of them anywhere. Could this be a good thing or a bad thing? Maybe bad. Some may be just waiting while they're watching.

How long do we have before the sun sets?

Will we be able to make it back? I haven't seen any borders that cross between us and those villains.

It's true. During the time that you've spent patrolling the east and now the south, you haven't seen any sign of an area being claimed by these villains that Gang Orca made a report about. It was odd. When you asked him about it and who were the main culprits that were in charge, he refused to answer you. The only thing he told you was that it would be best if you didn't know or found about it just yet. So there were some restrictions on your and Tsu's behalf when it comes to going out on patrol. But not this time. This time, you were willing to take charge and investigate so you would know what you were up against.

Was this stubbornness coming from making this decision? Maybe. Were you going to sit around and wait until your opponent attack you and your team? No. Are you willing to sacrifice your safety once again just to receive some answers that you have for your personal goal? Yes. You felt like you deserve to know the truth and that all starts with investigating while you were patrolling out your assigned location.

"You space out a lot." A voice snapped you out of being deep into your thoughts once again.

You turned your head to the medic team member and saw her nervously ask you, "I would like to ask you some questions if that's alright."

"Depends on what questions you have for me." You said after taking a bite from your protein bar.

"Well.. it's about you and your classmate, Tsu I believe?" She says before asking, "What made you two stay as heroes.. even after all of this has happened?"

You were a little stunned to hear this question, but you remained calm and simply answered, "At first, it was to have an agency of my own before this. Now, I'm doing this for a friend."

"Is your friend here too?"

"No." You replied, "He's not."

You stood up and put away your unfinished bar. You then said, "We should keep moving. It's not safe if we stay here too long."

Quickly, the three soldiers all stood up including the medic. Everyone was fixing themselves and waiting for your command.

You were about to walk around this giant pile of rubble that you used as a temporary safe spot before you heard something being kicked from afar. Everyone froze the moment you did. What was that? Was it a nomu? A hybrid? Possibly. Another possibility could be that a villain might be nearby. Maybe it was a watcher and they spotted you by now. If that were the case, this would be bad. You were sure that this area was the border that stood between the remaining heroes of this country and the villains that were waiting on the other side. It was said in the report that an agreement has been made to keep this area as a safe zone and border between both members of the opposing team.

If you were against a villain in this area right now, then it would be pointless to engage with them in combat. If you were forced to, it wouldn't affect this fragile treaty since this battle would only occur at this border.
