I wake up in the hospital. Covered in vomit and blood. My vision is still blurry, but I can see Ana talking to the doctor. There's a sharp pain in my back that just won't seem to go away but I try not to think about it.
When the doctor leaves the room, Ana walks over to me but I pretend to be asleep. "Anthony I know you're awake." She laughs, "how Ya doin?"
"Good," I lie, "I'm just tired." Although that last part is true, I've never felt worse in my entire life.
"That's nice," She smiles, "The doctor gave you a few stitches in your back so the pain should go away soon." The smile on her face fades and she walks towards the door. "Now," she says, "I believe someone owes you an apology."
Ana opens the door and I immediately get tense, Ze. "Uh, hi Anthony." Ze sighs, he still doesn't look me in the eye, I can't blame him.
Ana walks out the door but pops her head in the door before it closes. "And Anthony," she says, "if Ze try's to hurt you again, just scream." She walks out.
The room is silent for quite a while, I'm guessing Ze is trying to lay off apologizing as long as possible. "I'm sorry," Ze sighs, "in fact, I'll do whatever I can to make it up to you."
"I hate to say this Ze," I respond, "but I don't think I can forgive you." It's true, I know somewhere in me I want to forgive him but I can't find that somewhere.
"Ok then," Ze sulks, he walks out the door. But then something rushes through me that makes me spring out of the hospital bed and stop him.
"Ze wait!" I yell, he turns around and stares at me, a look of confusion in his eyes.
"Yeah is something wrong?" He asks.
I swallow, "There is one thing."

Time skip

Five hours later it started getting dark out. Ana, Gavin, Ze and I are out near a river by the side of the mountain. I turn to Ze, who's only sitting about a foot away from me.
"So," I start, Ze looks at me, "How often do you guys come out here?"
"About once or twice a month, depends on how stressed we are." He answers. I hear a splash and whip my head to see that Ana had pushed Gavin in the lake. I laugh and so does Ze. The two of us run over to help Gavin out of the water.
"Thanks!" Gavin says, Ana's still laughing and Gavin rolls his eyes. He pushes her in the water. Ana stares at us.
"It's not funny!" She snaps.
"It really is!" Gavin laughs. We help Ana out of the water and she and Gavin dry off.
"I think it's dark enough," Ana says, braiding some of her hair, "Ze, do the thing!"
"Uh," Ze starts, "Ok." He takes a deep breath and starts whistling. Ana points over to the river where what must be a thousand of fireflies have lit up. The reflection they where making off of the water is gorgeous. Utopia was finally starting to live up to its name.
Ze stops whistling and one by one the fireflies lights flickered out. "Wow," I say, sitting there in awe, Ze just smiles, "That was amazing!" I notice that Ana and Gavin have left. "Where did you learn to do that?"
"I don't remember actually," Ze answers, "I've been able to do it for so long I can't pin point a certain moment."
"With a talent like that I bet you can have any girl you want." I say, and it's true.
"I'm not interested in girls." Ze tells me.
I stare at him, "Are you-" I bite my tongue. I don't think I could possibly embarrassed myself more, that's not something you just ask people.
"Yes, I'm gay." Ze sighs. I don't think I can make him more uncomfortable. I open my mouth to tell him I'm the same way, but he gets up and runs away to quickly.
I lay down on the grass and sigh. "Nice going Anthony!" I tell myself, "You just had to ask him if he was gay!" I notice that my heart is starting to beat that much faster. I try pushing the thought to the back of my mind. I haven't developed feelings for Ze.
Not yet at least.
