I jolt awake at the sound of a familiar voice. Quinn. I don't remember falling asleep or coming here at all. Chains held me to the wall and I can't move or escape. Quinn's talking to a man I don't recognize, his hair long, black, and sort of wet. Like he'd been standing in the rain. I don't like the expression on his face at all, he's plotting something.
"Look who's awake," She smirks, "I'd like you to meet Marcus." She points to the man. "As you may know, you and your friends are a danger to our society, so we must eliminate you as soon as possible." I notice Marcus is hiding something behind his back and I don't want to know what it is.
"A little birdie told me your life is a nightmare," Quinn says. Marcus pulls the item out from behind his back and I immediately get tense. They're planning on whipping me. "Well we're about to put you through hell."
I feel the whip lash my side and I scream. One time is enough, if he continue it might kill me. Ever time he does it, the pain gets worse. There's no blocking it out. Not only can I feel it, I hear it crack. Tears stream down my face, I can't take it anymore. "Please, stop." I beg.
Marcus stops for a second, "Do you think he's had enough yet?"
Quinn licks her lips, "Give him one last, good, lash." He obeys, the last one is the worst. The handcuffs on the chains unlock and I fall to the ground, not even bothering to try and catch myself. Everything hurts, stings, burns. Marcus drops the whip on the ground and they both leave. I cry myself to sleep, not only am I suffering physically, my mental and emotional state are crumbling. I miss my friends, home, and more than anything, Ze.
I stay here for a week, but it felt like forever. Everyday the beatings get worse. My sides and back covered in bruises, blood, and lashes. The sound of the whip cracking echoes in the back of my mind. The room they're keeping me in has a small window that I'm just barely able to fit through.
I hit the ground running, literally. Not only is it hard to run, but it's dark out. But do I care? No. I just want to get far, far away from Quinn and Marcus.
. . .I run into a city and walk into a gas station to buy a bottle of Gatorade and a bag of Doritos. As the cashier scans my stuff, I notice something on a bulletin board on the wall. It's a missing poster. Looking for me. I stare at the poster, my hood up so no one will know who I am. "Anthony Baxter, you heard of him?" The cashier asks.
"Yeah," I mumble, "I have."
"I just noticed it today," he says, "my coworker said a little redhead girl came in the other day and put that poster up, she said her name is Lily Rain."
I perk up at the mention of Lily's name. The corners of my mouth turn up, it's good to know she's still looking for me, she still cares. "She left a phone number too." He mentions.
"Can I call her?" I ask.
He hands me the number, "There's a phone by the bathrooms."
I rush to the phone and dial her number lightning fast. She picks up almost immediately, "Lily Rain who's speaking?"
I swallow, "Anthony Baxter."
She stays silent for a moment then says. "Anthony?" I hear shock and happiness in her voice, "I thought you where dead."
"Lily, I'm at the 7'11 on the corner of Cherry Ridge and Main, please come save me from this hell." A single tear rolls down my cheek.
"Of course," She says, "anything for you!" She hangs up.
I dash outside, grabbing the bag with the Gatorade and Doritos on my way. I don't even have to wait five minutes to see Lily's sparkling emerald green eyes. She wraps her arms around me and I do the same to her. "I thought you where dead." She cries into my shoulder.
I lie to her a little, "It's ok, I'm ok."
