As soon as I walk through the door of Lily's house she grabs my hand and sits me down on the couch in her living room. "Dude you have some major explaining to do," She says, I can't think of where to start, what I should say, what I shouldn't say, how to say it. Lily starts to lose her patience, "Any day now."
I just start from the beginning, "After I left I met Ana, Gavin, and Ze, who was a jerk at first but he's ok now. Then Ana had a lock in where Ze and I became friends. The leader of this society, Quinn, is trying to kill me and this guy named Steven, who's apparently Ze's crazy alter ego. We ran off, I got sick, we found this cabin which belongs to this girl Tessa and if I wasn't gay I'd think she's pretty hot." I decide not to mention the beating. Lily would freak.
She stares at me, trying to process everything I just said. "And at the end of all of this you're still a virgin?"
"That's all you have?" I sigh and she nods, "Not an 'Omg Anthony I'm so glad you're back and you're also really freaking cool'?"
She laughs, "You're ok I guess." She playfully punches my shoulder, hitting one of my wounds. I flinch, "Is something wrong?" She asks.
"Nothing," I lie, "Absolutely nothing."
She rolls up the sleeve of my t-shirt and sees the mark. She gasps, "You can't tell me nothing's wrong and have this."
"It's no big deal." I tell her. All she does is stare at me. The look in her eyes is the 'I'm not have any of your shenanigans' look. I roll my eyes and take my shirt off, noticing how bad it really is. My back, sides, stomach are covered in lashes.
She gets up, "I'm getting you an ice pack," She walks into the kitchen but peeks back into the living room, "scratch that, multiple ice packs."
Five minutes later I'm laying down on my stomach covered in ice packs. It feels good for the most part but it's also really cold and uncomfortable. She tells me about what happened while I was gone, "The police are stilling looking for you, but all they want is for you to be back, safe. My parents are off celebrating their anniversary this week so they don't know you're here, no one will. I also became really depressed when you left, you're my best friend." I smile at her. I missed her voice, she's easy to talk and listen to. "So I guess we've both had our daily doses of hell."
"Maybe you more than me," I say. Lily raises one eyebrow. "I met someone."
She knows exactly what I mean. Her eyes widen and she gets the biggest grin on her face. "OMG! You did?! Spill the beans!"
"Remember how I mentioned Ze earlier?" She nods and pops a gummy worm in her mouth, "Well..." My voice trails off. But Lily being Lily, she knows exactly what I'm going to say.
"So you two are now boyfriend and boyfriend?" She leans in closer to me and our faces are now only about an inch apart.
"We haven't exactly made it official..." I say.
"What do you need to do? Update your FaceBook status?" She sighs, "Anyways, tell me all about him!"
I think of what I should and shouldn't say. "Brown hair, kinda pale, pretty typical, but his eyes, they're blue and green but the blue and green don't mix, they battle for territory, it's definitely something else, he's also a good kisser."
"Ok, I've been dating twice as long as you have an the one boy you manage to find happens to be Prince Charming? That's bull crap!" She throws her hands up in the air and groans.
"I just miss him a lot," I sigh, "I wonder what he's doing now."Ze's POV (Surprise!)
"Anthony?!" I hear Ana yell from a good fifty feet away. Anthony disappeared yesterday and left no trace what so ever. We left Tessa's cabin around four thirty this morning in search for him. But we've found nothing.
"It's no use," Tessa leans against a tree, "he's gone, forever..."
I ignore her, Tessa's just a pessimist. I miss him. A horrible thought lingers in the back of my mind and just stays there, it spreads like mold and only makes me think of it more. 'What if he's dead?' I think to myself. Over, and over, and over again.
"Guys!" Gavin yells from the east, "I might have found something!" Tessa and I look at each other then sprint in Gavin's direction.
A city. He found a city. I feeling of hope washes over me. This is it, he could be here. The chances that we'll find him are still slim but enormous compared to what they where before.
