"The greatest of rulers never seek glory or riches. The stories they tell and the actions they take all found their way into the hand of the worthy. Great rulers aren't made by books, they're found by fate,"
"Nightingale!" I yell as he pushes her aside from an incoming dagger.
"I thought this thing was YOUR trial!" she yells out angrily.
"It is his trial, we're just collateral," Albaeon responds as he peeks at the moving statue from behind the damaged pillar.
"Either way, I need to defeat it," I say as I look around to see if I can find something that would help us survive.
Albaeon notices me looking at the roof.
"I can teleport us out of harm's way at the last second. But you'll need more power to do what you're planning," he comments calmly.
If I bring the entire roof of the arena down on it, maybe it will trap that statue for long enough to finish it off. But there aren't enough roots to pull it down with the power that I have.
"Here's an option. Wound yourself and I will do it. If I drink your blood, I temporarily also get your powers," Nightingale offers with a smile.
"Are you sure that's not another excuse to drink my blood?" Rex asks calmly.
Nightingale peeks around the damaged pillar.
"Only one way to find out, 'master'," she responds playfully.
"Very well, take what you need. But no more," I respond as I extend my arm to her.
"Thanks for the meal!" Nightingale yells before biting down after a few seconds she raises her head.
"Are you...done?" Albaeon asks curiously.
"Such...an ecstasy! I wish this sensation would last for a lifetime! I feel so strong!" Nightingale yells as she gets up energetically. Immediately her head is blown off.
"Uhm..., are you okay?" Albaeon asks as the head of the Banshee falls close to them.
"Wait, hold on! I almost got it!" Nightingale yells as she focuses. Her body responds to her thoughts and immediately pulls the roof down.
"Get us out of here, Albaeon!" I yell as Albaeon teleports us away.
Nightingale looks at her body which stands around motionless.
"Huh, so that's what dying feels like. It's kinda cold," she says as the light in her eyes fades and her body collapses.
"Is she going to be alright?" I ask worriedly.
"She's a Banshee. Unless someone destroys her body with Holy Magic, there's nothing to worry about," Albaeon explains before helping me get back to the arena.
I let out a deep breath as I look at my bleeding arm.
"Time to end this trial," I say as I stumble to the trapped statue and stab it straight through the chest.
"Congratulations, Rex," Albaeon says calmly as he watches me get up.
"Yeah..." I respond in an exhausted manner before collapsing.
"Rex? Rex!" a voice yells out.
For a moment I see Amaura and Markus for some reason. Do I miss them? Was it right of me to leave?
"Rex, snap out of it!" Albaeon yells loudly.
"Oh..., it's you. I'm sorry for worrying you," I respond as I get up. My body feels heavy and my head is spinning.
