"Rex, can you hear me?! Rex! Wake up! We m-" the voice fades as soon as it entered my mind.
That voice, this cold feeling. Why am I feeling so lonely? I slowly open my eyes and notice Helen sitting next to my bed.
"Sis?" I ask softly while barely having the energy to move.
"By the huntress! You're finally awake. You were stuck in a fever dream for the past day or two," Helen says as she comes sitting next to me with some broth.
I take it from her but drop it as I notice the lack of strength in my right hand.
"Rex! I'll get a doctor, please stay put," Helen yells worriedly before running out.
I get out of bed and struggle my way to the mirror.
"Hey..., you. Come out and give me strength..." I whisper, but like a rusted machine my eyes only flicker for a small period before a pain shoots through my skull.
I fall to the ground and notice blood coming from my head.
"Rex, I told you to st-" Helen says before noticing the blood.
The doctor helps me up, while Helen makes the 'seal' on my hand.
"Tell me, doctor. What's wrong with him?" Helen asks worriedly.
"I...don't know. His right hand barely reacts to any pain stimulus," the doctor says worriedly as he puts a nail from one side of my thumb to the other. But I feel barely a tingling sensation. He checks my temperature.
"His fever is still getting worse. Whatever is going on, doesn't seem to be infectious. Only the huntress may know what to do," the man says as he takes care of my injuries including the one he just caused.
I lean against Helen's shoulder out of exhaustion.
"I can't hear him anymore..., it's so cold and lonely..." I whisper as I close my eyes.
Helen looks to the doctor in shock.
"Rex, what are you saying? Is your curse gone?" she asks in a slight worry.
I extend my hand towards a plate and nothing happens.
"Return to me..., I need you..." I whisper.
Helen sees my eyes flicker.
"Rex, that's enough. Maybe he'll return when your fever is gone," she tries to convince me, but something inside of me feels wrong.
"Helen, I don't remember meeting other people, but why am I seeing and hearing them in my nightmares? They laugh at me, like I'm crazy," I explain as I grab my head.
"Rex, calm down. They're not real," the doctor tried to calm me down.
"You let us die..."
"Look at you..., pathetic,"
"They'll join us soon, just like you ended our lives,"
"Shut up, get out of my head!" I yell out as I begin to scratch my right arm.
"We need to gain permission from our chieftain. The last thing we need for him or our village is for his powers to return when he's like this. We need to ask the Huntress for help," Helen says worriedly.
I look in the mirror again and see a female silhouette made of blood gently wrap her arms around me.
"I see you. Your notes..., so beautiful and soothing. Take me home, my Queen of Bl-" I'm interrupted.
"Rex! By the gods, whatever is haunting you is trying to kill you! Try to hold on...please, I can't lose you too..." Helen whispers as she pulls me away and hugs me tight.
