Aurora was sent on her first mission outside of the HYDRA compound. Richard had decided she was ready. The decision came quickly and everyone seemed to rush to make the mission happen the very next day. It was almost like they had a deadline. Maybe they did, maybe these people that she was supposed to kill were planning something coming up soon. Aurora didn't know, but she was overwhelmed with dread as she anticipated the mission.

Sev would go with her, and while they'd be driven to the location by guards, during the actual mission,l Aurora and Sev would be raiding the small building by themselves. The guards were just there for backup, or, if it came to it, to prevent Aurora from attempting to flee. As Aurora climbed out of the van with Sev, she was given a gun to use just in case she needed to.

The plan was for her to kill as many of the people inside with her abilities while Sev stole some information from this hard drive they'd been debriefed on.

The guns were the backup plan. Sev had taught Aurora a bit about shooting, but not enough to make her feel confident in her ability to use a gun. Maybe that was a good thing though. Maybe if she faltered, one of the people inside would get the chance to kill her first and put an end to Aurora's reign of terror.

Sev led the way up to the building as they crept through the dark.

"Who are these people?" Aurora whispered to the blonde woman just outside the door.

Sev gave her a sharp look.

"Do you really want to know? The more you know, the more it hurts." She said.

Aurora nodded hesitantly and agreed.

"Let's go." Sev walked forward until they were at the back of the small building, "Fifteen in total."

Aurora nodded her head at the reminder, but the disgust in her stomach flared up again at hearing that number. She knew it was stupid, but she'd been keeping track of her kills. So far she'd had ten. Aurora had committed ten murders of innocent people, and now she was about to add another fifteen to that tally. That would make it twenty five. She shivered at the number. Sev finished picking the lock on the back door and they slipped inside together.

The first person they came across was a man working on a computer. They seemed to be a small surveillance company. As they opened the door to his office, the man sighed and spun around in his chair.

"Jeff, I told you I'm not hungry-" He broke himself off as he caught sight of the two women.

Aurora cursed herself. She'd hesitated too long, and now she'd seen his face. Now she'd seen the expression as he looked at her and saw a monster. She killed the man quickly. Sev glanced at her. Aurora was staring at the man's still body.

"Next time do it quicker. Before they even know we're there. It's easier that way." Sev advised.

Aurora took a deep breath, pushed down her disgust and nodded, following Sev back through the building. Most of the people there they caught off guard. Aurora drained their lives as quickly as she could, hoping they weren't in much pain. She had to kill them, but she hoped foolishly that maybe it would be just a bit better for them if it didn't hurt.

At some point in the mission, Aurora and Sev got separated. They weren't that far from each other, but stood in separate rooms. Someone had raised the alarm so now the remaining people were panicking. Some of them tried to draw out guns. Aurora drained them before they could shoot her. She kept count as she went along. Fifteen. Sixteen. Seventeen.

At twenty she faltered. Twenty. So many deaths. So much blood. Someone charged at her. Twenty one.

Aurora tried to take a breath to keep herself from falling apart. The woman with a gun in front of her noticed her distractedness and lifted her weapon to shoot her. Maybe Aurora should let her. She didn't have to make the decision whether to kill the woman or let the woman kill her. The woman, along with the two others beside her froze up. Sev. She had stopped them from getting the chance to shoot Aurora.
