Stef's POV

It was a surprise for me to meet Lena's parents today, I didn't saw that coming and neither did she.

Stewart seems to be a gentleman, and a very loving father. Lena told me they were very close, and it shown.

Now, Dana was a bit more challenging as I could see she was a straight shooter, but so am I. I guess we found our match and Lena had already warned me that she might be in interrogation mode, but I honestly don't mind for if this was Brandon, I would probably do the same.

I have absolutely nothing to hide, I want the best for Lena and I'm in love with her. I'm fully committed to her, so I don't know what could make it so she wouldn't like me. My intentions toward Lena are good and even if I have my moments, at the end of the day this is Lena's life.

Anyway, I'll do my best to reassure her because I know her mom's heart must be worried, I understand that and that's why I'm gonna be at my best behavior. However, I refuse to be hypocrite, if I have something to say, I'll say it, if I have to defend myself or Lena, I'll do it. Sure, with respect and diplomacy but I won't being stepped on.

"Darling, can you pass me the salad, please?" Dana said to her daughter as we were all at the table, and Lena did as she was asked.

"Thank you, baby. So, Stef you're a cop, Lena told me." she said looking at me as I smile softly.

"Yes, that's right, Mrs. Adams. I got my GED and then graduate form the police academy when I was twenty."

"Stef was major of her class, mom." Lena adds looking at me smiling as I wink at her, for she was so sweet.

"So, you have a gun at home. Lena hates them." Dana said unimpressed and concern which I understand as Lena sigh for, this was a topic we avoid a bit. I know she doesn't like guns, she was very honest about it, but it was part of my job.

"Yes, I do. It's nowhere else but in the safe, no one but me can touch it."

"It's true, I don't even see it most of the time." Lena said, as I took her hand under the table for, I know her mom is tensing her.

"But you don't live with her yet, honey." Dana said I felt Lena squeeze my hand and hard.

"Mom, this is a part of her job, Stef is a good cop, and I don't feel unsafe, so you don't have to worry about that." She said defensively as her mom look at her ready to shoot back, but I was faster.

"Don't you worry Mrs. Adams, Lena is very much safe with me. My gun is non-existent at home, nothing ever happened in almost ten years since I started." And she looked at me and nod politely.

"You can call me Dana, my dear." She said softly, as I nod and smile.

"What made you chose to be a cop?" Stewart asks smiling.

"Oh well, my father was a cop, my grandfather was a cop, I guess it was in my blood already. I don't see myself doing anything else."

"Oh, like Lena! Dana is a teacher, and her grandfather was as well. And I remember she told me: 'daddy you know when I'll be as tall as you are, I'm going to teach people that are as short as I'm now, how to read and how to count up to 100.'" he said, sparks in her eyes as Lena's face light up.

"Ooh I remember, I was I think seven or something, and you told me: 'Well, sweetie even as tall as me, you will always be my sweet little baby.'" She said smiling ear to ear and hugging him quickly as I watch their little interaction that was so cute, and I have to admit it was a bit bittersweet for my father and I use to be like this, and I was missing him like nothing else even if I was still hurt.
