"I'm getting real sick and tired of coming to hospitals." Was the first thing Destiny said as Chris walked back into the waiting room with a water in his hand and a bag of chips for Nadia from the cafeteria.

"You and me both." Demetrius inserted letting out a sigh. Destiny, Demetrius, Nadia, Stephen and Chris sat in a private waiting room waiting on the news for Lance.

They arrived around eight last night and had to leave due to visiting hours being up but was advised to come back in the morning where now they discovered that Lance had suffered a small stroke overnight.

Chris sighed and took his seat back next to Nadia placing his hand on her thigh that was rapidly bouncing up and down from her nerves.

"You know I miss the old me, the old me would've been trying to play hard with Dem around Houston and find out who did it. I'm so tired of being soft. I need to go back to being a hard ass, I miss it."

"I don't." Chris answered chuckling making her look at him with her eyebrow raised, "You was annoying, nasty, and mean as hell back then. I like you being soft."

"Okay, but I don't even understand how I got like this."

"Baby, you done been through a lot these past few years and that probably broke you down for the better in my opinion. You worked on yourself and your trauma and that was probably why you was the way you were and why you are like this now. Shit, you made me soft too."

"Yeah, sure." She spoked sarcastically in a code referring to their little moment they shared yesterday in LA at her house.

Chris sucked his teeth and decided to change the subject just to keep her mind off the situation.

"So your birthday coming up, what you planning?"

She hummed thinking of answering while he started messing with her hand and going over the design on her nails. "Nothing. My 27th was okay but then Lo got shot so we had to cut that short,"

"Yeah, they still ain't catch who did it but he wasn't tripping."

"And last year's sucked. I just went out to eat with the fam and then cried that night. I didn't do anything spectacular so this year I feel like I can just chill"

"Shit, this your last year of your twenties, mamas."

"Ew. I know don't remind me...at least I'm going into it with zero kids I guess"

"It's wild to think that we would be somewhere with a one year old right now." He chuckled and she nodded her head while looking at nothing in particular. He was also going to say they would've had a little 9 or 10 month old too but he didn't want to bring that up because clearly she didn't really care about it.

That abortion affected him more than her.

"I still don't know how we conceived then."

"I think it was sometime between when we came down here and when we went to Tulum that time. You know we was bumping and grinding heavy." He said. Chris had put the math together a long time ago when they got pregnant the first time. It was definitely an accident.
