As I drove towards the hospital, contemplating a menu of salad and pulled pork with barbecue sauce, I encountered a group of bikers along the way. It seemed that Crystal's search had been fruitless, which is a disappointment. Upon parking my car, I noticed Paige leaning against a wall, engaged in a conversation with someone who appeared to prefer anonymity. Intrigued by her gestures, I made my way directly towards her, curious to see who she was conversing with. Not that I was overly curious, but as part of my job, it was my duty to gather information and delve into personal matters. Well, perhaps I couldn't deny my natural curiosity entirely. I had a tendency to poke around and be nosy, although it sounded different when it played out in my mind. Speaking those thoughts aloud, I could visualize the scene.

Suddenly, I heard a voice exclaim, "That's enough! I'm at my workplace! Go away!" Paige had turned around and spotted me standing about ten meters away. In response, I raised my arm, displaying the bag of food, and flashed her a smile. Her face instantly lit up upon seeing me.

"Just in time! I'm famished!" she exclaimed as she approached.

I leaned in to place a kiss on her lips, and from the corner of my eye, I noticed a car driving away. Although I couldn't see the driver, I managed to note down the car's model, color, and license plate number.

Taking advantage of the pleasant weather, I sat at a picnic table with Paige, enjoying our meal. She voraciously devoured her food, confessing that she hadn't had time for breakfast and admitting to a restless night the previous day. While she shared her experiences, I listened attentively, refraining from delving into my own troubled night. Instead, I moved closer to offer her comfort, knowing that she had experienced a bout of melancholy after my departure. Rising from my seat, I approached her and kissed her gently, grateful for her heartfelt words that hadn't been spoken to me in weeks.

"I'll pick you up at nine o'clock as promised for the massage," I informed her.

"But... what about my car? I have work tomorrow," she responded.

"I'll drive you back in the morning," I assured her.

"You mean..."

"If it's alright with you, I'd like to stay with you tonight," I suggested.

"Elizabeth, things are moving too fast. You're disrupting my routine. I spent two intense days with you, but my job demands a lot from me and..."

"I love you," I interjected, unable to hold back my emotions any longer.

There it was, I had confessed my true feelings.

"So, that's where we stand," she remarked.

"I don't want to rush anything. That's how I feel, Paige. I'm not pressuring you into anything. Yesterday was incredible, and sleeping with you was amazing. If you're not ready for more at the moment, I understand and accept whatever you're willing to give me. I don't want to impose myself in your life; I simply want to spend time with you, by your side. Tonight, I'll give you a massage, and it doesn't mean I expect to sleep with you. Just being next to you while we sleep is enough for me."

"You don't want to sleep with me?" she asked.

"Of course I do," I chuckled before kissing her. "Tomorrow, I'll gradually ease back into work. No full day, I'll stop as soon as I feel unable to do more."

"If you listen to your body, I see no objection," she replied, her voice laced with understanding.

"If I listen to my body..." I repeated as I stood up, whispering the rest in her ear, eliciting a blush from her. "See you tonight, Paige," I greeted her, blowing a playful kiss as I walked away.
