"You brought her back into this house, Abhimanyu?"

The words had left her lips without any hesitant as she looked at Abhimanyu for an answer but he held her stare without any word. His hold on my waist tightened and I knew what it meant. He didn't wanted me to allow myself to get disrespected by his mother unlike in the past.

This was my battle.

"Well if you are planning to talk about me like I am not in the room, might you just be kind and offer me a seat so I could freaking enjoy too," I rebuked with the same venom Roop Rajvansh always had on her tongue.

"Haven't your mother taught you that women shouldn't curse."

If only she knew that her dear son made me to things more than curse in the bedroom. Abhimanyu must have thought the same because from the corner of eyes, I saw his lips lifting up.

"My mother didn't had time to teach me those nonsense useless things," I answered truthfully. No matter how much Roop Rajvansh wanted to show herself as the caring mother, I knew she wasn't.

If she was, she couldn't have let her son get abused by his merciless vicious father.

"Why was this grandma angry or had she been with that face, Papa?" Shravani asked as she looked at Roop with a scowl.

"You—"

"Enough! She is my wife and from now on, she and my daughter must be treated with respect in this house!" Abhimanyu announced with the tone I had seen him using with his soldiers. I saw the distress in Roop's eyes before it masked away and she stepped back. I could feel the remark she had wanted to make but as she looked at Abhimanyu, her lips pressed into a thin line.

Was she afraid of her own son?

"Fine then. Nargis would show you the room." Roop eyed the woman behind her.

"You can follow me," the woman, who I supposed with the name Nargis smiled at us as Abhimanyu tried to grab my hand but I was fast enough to walk away from him. I heard him sigh  and the soft yet confident footsteps followed me behind.

"This is your room, Ms." Nargis gestured at the one on the right corner but Abhimanyu took both of us by surprise when he said, "She is staying with me."

"But Master Abhimanyu, Madam Roop has strictly told that Madam Vedika would stay in the one at the right corner," Nargis protested and I suddenly felt sorry for her because in the Rajvansh family it was a say, "whatever a Rajvansh says, it happens."
