8. A ride home.

"Pitiful." My baby boy Aiden giggled looking at me in my dress.

Immediately picked him up in my arms and kissed his chubby cheeks. 

"I believe the word is beautiful but thank you." He giggled as I peppered nonstop kisses to his cheeks.

"Woah! You are gorgeous. Drop them dead baby." Mavis whistled glancing me up and down.

"I still think this dress is a bit too revealing." I told her as she took Aiden from my arms.

"Nonsense! Stop trying to overdress Faith. You look beautiful. Go woo a few heads after all you did say you might get back out there and start dating." May winked at me.

I blushed. "I'm not trying to woo anyone, May. I just want to look nice, that's all."

"Well, whatever it is you're trying to do, you're definitely achieving it. You look stunning, Faith, and I know there'll be a few eyes on you tonight." May smiled and Ava towards her, leaving me to check my reflection in the mirror.

She was right, I looked great.

I hadn't told Dante I was attending the ball so hopefully I wasn't intruding when he saw that I had showed up, I wanted my job. I needed my job intact.

Mavis is truly a godsend! She was so kind and generous to offer her services when I needed help and I truly appreciate it. It meant the world to me that I could trust her to care for my children while I was away, and I will never forget it.

Mavis was always pleasant and helpful with her god babies, and they absolutely loved her. I'm so grateful for her and for the kindness she's shown my babies.

I hurriedly bid them farewell and climbed into the cab that was waiting for me before getting to the ball.

While I was searching for Dante by moving around the hallways, there were a few murmurs and catcalls.

All eyes suddenly fixed on me, causing my cheeks to flush. Scanning the room for a distraction, my gaze landed on a group of sharply dressed businessmen, among whom Dante stood. Just as I looked his way, Dante spun around and locked his eyes onto mine.

Timidly, I approached Dante, feeling his gaze sweep over me. Despite my shyness, I couldn't help but secretly appreciate how debonair he looked -- he was truly outstanding. As my eyes traced his chiseled features, I couldn't deny that he was still incredibly handsome.

I also couldn't help but get a little jealous seeing the other women who surrounded Dante, they were nevertheless stunning as well.

As a way of greeting, I offered a small wave, but I noticed the women in the circle around Dante scowling at me.

Suddenly, Dante's hand slipped around my waist, and he pulled me close to his side. "I'm so glad you could make it," he said, his voice warm and reassuring.

I took in a deep breath, savoring his scent and feeling the warmth of his body pressed against mine. His hand was possessively wrapped around my waist, and I felt a deep sense of contentment and satisfaction.

"Everyone this is Faith my personal assistant, Faith meet Jack, Sinclair and Lincoln. Stakeholders in Dailyplus care." Dante introduced.

"It's so nice to see you all," I said with a smile.

"We were just discussing how Mr. Harrison has managed to do wonders as we've already seen a recovery of growth in the company." They all praised Dante.

"Yes, the growth has been nothing short of amazing in such a short period of time. I think it has been a combination of Dante's visionary leadership, hard work by all the employees, and a bit of luck." I gave my praises as well taking a glass of wine from a waitress who had been passing by with a wine tray.
