As my eyes fluttered open, I was greeted by a beam of golden sunlight streaming through the window.

A smile of contentment spread across my face as I realized that I had experienced one of the most peaceful and rejuvenating sleeps in a long time.

However, as I glanced at the clock on my bedside table, my smile quickly turned into a gasp of horror. It was already past 10 o'clock in the morning, and the meeting I was supposed to attend had started over two hours ago at 8:00 am.

In a state of panic, I leapt out of bed and raced to the bathroom, frantically splashing water on my face as I tried to shake off the grogginess of sleep.

I dressed as quickly as possible, barely sparing a moment to comb my hair or check my appearance in the mirror. After hastily throwing on some professional attire and using mouthwash, I rushed out of my room without bothering to have breakfast or grab a cup of coffee. My sole focus was on reaching the conference hall as swiftly as possible.

As I arrived at the door, my heart sank as I saw the last few attendees trickling out of the room. I had missed the entire meeting, and now I was left standing there, feeling foolish and embarrassed.

Trying my best to keep my composure, I nodded my head in acknowledgement of the departing businessmen and their assistants, trying to avoid their questioning gazes.

I knew that Dante, my boss, would be furious with me for being late and missing the meeting. I felt a sense of dread creeping up on me as I anticipated the repercussions of my mistake.

"Why did I have to oversleep today of all days?" I thought to myself, feeling frustrated and angry at my own carelessness.

I had never overslept before, and now, when it mattered most, I had failed to show up on time.

As I stood there in the empty conference hall, I felt a sudden wave of anxiety wash over me as Dante, my boss, walked in, holding a bottle of water.

He looked at me with a mix of disappointment and concern, his piercing gaze making me feel even more nervous.

I mustered up the courage to approach him and apologize for my tardiness, hoping that he wouldn't fire me on the spot.

"I am so sorry for showing up when the meeting was already finished. I know it looks horrible, and I apologize-" Before I could finish my sentence, Dante's hand reached out to fix my hair in a sweet, unexpected gesture.

I felt a sudden rush of emotions, and my heart skipped a beat as I inhaled his intoxicating scent.

Dante's voice interrupted my thoughts, "You must have been tired. There's no need for you to apologize. How are you feeling?" I opened my mouth to respond, but the words caught in my throat as I stared at him in disbelief.

Was I imagining things, or was my boss showing me a side of him that I had never seen before?

I couldn't help but wonder why Dante, who had always been strict and businesslike with me, was suddenly acting so kind and gentle.

After all, he had specifically requested that I join him on this three-day business trip, and I had let him down on the very first day. I had expected him to scold me and give me a stern warning, but instead, he seemed genuinely concerned about my well-being.

As I stood there, still in shock, Dante's eyes met mine, and for a moment, it felt as though time had stopped.

I felt a strange sense of connection with him, and I wondered if this unexpected turn of events would change our professional relationship in any way.

Suddenly, Dante's hands gently cupped my face, his eyes reflecting a whirlwind of emotions as he gazed down at me. It was as if he was wrestling with an internal conflict before he glanced away.
