Lucy's P.O.V
"We can't stay here." He helped her up.
"I know..." She looked towards her first welcoming home, she hated to leave, but Natsu was always right.
The sun was already up, as it shined, the victims on the floor became visible to her.
"Let's leave." She said as she stared down into the soulless piles of ash.
Natsu's P.O.V
Natsu took her in his arms and sent them into the sky.
"Where do you want to go?" He felt a new hope arise
"It doesn't matter, as long as we stay together." Her blush coated her innocent face.
"I won't leave you alone." He smiled down on her, making her heart rate jump, this only amused him. He could hear it change pace every time, but she doesn't know that.
A few hours of wandering aimlessly, Natsu spotted a potential home. On the horizon stood mountains of all sizes. The largest mountain caught his eye right away.
He dropped Lucy off right below it, while he investigated the inside, correct on his gut feeling, it was hallow on the inside.
"Hey, Luce!" He called to her.
"Yes?" She yelled back, smiling at his new nick name.
"It's empty inside!" He felt triumphant as he soared down to grab her.
"Do you think we can live in here?" She asked him as she touched the raw materials along the rough patchy wall.
"We could renew it, Change it." Natsu rubbed the back of his neck shyly.
"I'd like that, I know it would be a lot of work but-" he could tell Lucy lost her train of thought as she gazed into his eyes.
"But it would be ours." Natsu finished her sentence, holding her gaze as if he were telling her unspoken words.
She smiled and nodded, her heart beat increasing like always. Lucy wrapped her arms around Natsu, pressing her face against his warm chest.
Natsu, then out of all things, came to the conclusion, this is in fact love he is feeling at this very moment. His abnormal heart rate and behaviors surfaced simply because he loves Lucy. He tried to deny this warm feeling many times, but he can't ignore them any longer. Their hearts were so in-sync at the moment, like they were made to beat together.
Natsu could feel himself moving unconsciously, powered by his feelings.
His hands moved to each side of her face, caressing them, tilting her face up towards his own. He leaned down, moving ever so slowly towards her. Inch by inch his lips neared hers, neither of them breathing.
Closing his eyes, he closed the space between them and ended the eternal waiting.
He could hear Lucy sigh contently, reaching up to wrap her arms around his neck, pulling him closer to her. Natsu deepened the kiss, locking his arms around her waist. He had never kissed anyone before, but he knew in his heart this was perfect.
They let their built up feelings fly free. The suppression they both held, was finally lifted.
Lucy's P.O.V
They broke apart, resting their foreheads against one another's, catching their breaths.
"I should have asked you before I-"
She silenced him with another kiss, thus making him grin from ear to ear.
"Lucy I-I Lo-" She notice his sudden loss of words. She could see his frustration build up. Smiling understandingly, she placed both palms on his cheeks, he automatically calmed down.
He closed his eyes, "I love you...but I'm a monster." He whispered just high enough for her to hear.
Her heart stopped momentarily, her eyes began to water as she stared admirably up at him.
"Then I guess I'm in love with a monster. A monster that is not only selfless but caring, passionate, loving, and perfect in every way possible." She cried soft, but happy tears.
A fully awakened and openly expressed emotion blossomed between the two. Just by one kiss, all feelings were understood and explained. Princess and Dragon, together on unexpected terms, came to love each other unconditionally.
